My wife and I are into our 12th year of the Alzheimer’s Journey beginning with her first diagnosis. We have had at home hourly care..which progressed three and a half years ago to a Memory Care Center which held 60+ residents and now we are at an 8 bed home called...A Place Called Home Lux. Each placement was appropriate for its time..At the Memory Care Center my wife had reached the point where she couldn't walk without help and because of the number of residents it wasn't safe anymore...the caregivers were great but there were not enough of them to safely cover the area. I then was shown A Place Called Home...smaller but safer with a ratio of 1 caregiver to 2/3 residents. The price difference was $100 per month...a no brainer. A Place Called home is clean, the Caregivers are outstanding and they always ask you questions about how they can do a better job. The Caregivers also are able to answer any of your questions because everyone is on the team where the goal is to provide the best overall care for your loved one. At other places you have to go thru a hierarchy where one person has to ask the higher person in charge for directions and if they can answer your question. You also are a part of that team and your input is as valuable as the owners and Caregiving team. The food is outstanding the rooms are wonderfully set up and the quiet and calmness of A Place Called Home, gives you a feeling that your wife is safe and when you leave you don't have to stress out about what is happening when you are not there. These places are not inexpensive but when you have looked at as many places as I have over the past 6 years you will find that most places will give you the beginning cost per mont ,but after 6 months the price will increase because they have been reevaluated and now your cost will be $2000 more per month and this can happen every year. A Place Called Home..has one price.which increases 2-3 percent per month every year for a cost of living raise. This you can live with..what is hard to live with is when you are called in every year and told you love one has moved up a step and it is now going up $2000 per month and will increase to the point of over $10500 per month. A Place Called Home is unique and the owners are very much 2025 centered, they are not centered in a service model that is out of date and cannot be defended when common sense questions are asked. I would put A Place Called Home at the top of anyones list who is looking for a place to have their loved ones. Thank you Bob Gray

My Dad was here for a few months in the summer of 2023. The house was beautiful, and the live-in caregivers, Micah and John, took loving care of my father. All the spaces were clean and organized, and it really felt like a home. I was confident that all aspects of care for my Dad were handled well, hygiene, food, and medication management. Of note, the clients in this home in particular at that time seemed to all be lower level cognitively, so there was not much socialization between the residents (which suited my Dad fine). They do have a couple of homes with different types of residents, and I think they try and match the right home to the right level of care and socialization that person needs. Highly recommend them!

My father received wonderful care at Calimyrna for his final five months. Moving to APCH was like coming home after having spent two months in a nursing home. Though he had a little mobility, he chose mainly to be in bed and was always made clean and comfortable. He lost his hearing, but the friendliness and caring demeanor of the staff came across loud and clear, and he was comfortable with them. He required assistance each time he got up to use the bathroom; they placed a motion detector by his bed and someone came to help him every time, day or night - even when he would get up several times within the hour. The staff treated him as if he was family and that helped make our journey with him during his final months calm, gentle, and loving. My family is deeply grateful to APCH and the caring and professional staff they employ.

Such lovely homes and genuinely kind caregivers. All of the caregivers, whether regulars, Micah and John, or day off coverage, they care about the residents, are easy to speak with, and make the residents feel at home. For the years my family member was there, was provided homemade meals, exercise program, and hygiene needs well attended to. The management and staff go above and beyond to provide excellent care.

If I could give A Place Called Home 10 stars I would. My Dad was always kept clean and his caregivers were always caring and kind. It was the best care he received in the 6 months since he broke his hip.
