CAUTION: *Stay away from Dr Yusuf Abdullah at all costs.* Abdullah is insensitive rude dismissive and not able to care for people with disabilities and who are neurodivergent. Do not trust your care with him. I had a new patient appt with Abdullah in 2025. I sent a MyChart message in advance with several pages of patient introduction to help with difficulty accessing care due to PTSD and autism avoidant and sensory needs. I met with his nurse as I was roomed and asked her to print the info and have Abdullah read them before coming in. Abdullah entered the room huffing and puffing. His first words to me were, “you’re doing yourself a disservice. You know this, right?” I had no idea what he was talking about. He took the pages of paper and repeatedly shuffled and slammed them on the desk while stating that he had no time to read them and kept repeating that I was doing myself a disservice. It was the most invalidating experience I ever had as a disabled person in primary care. Here I was trying to self advocate and provide background info to help treat me, and Abdullah couldn’t be bothered to read or understand my lived experiences as a disabled autistic person. Because I have some skills at self-regulation, I stayed calm under Abdullah’s fury. I was firm that he take the time to read the info before continuing anything. I kept stating I was disabled and autistic. He told me he didn’t think he was a good fit for me without making any effort to evaluate that. Finally, Abdullah left the room and read for a few minutes. He used far more time arguing than he eventually did to read. He stormed out of the room like he entered. When he returned, his tone completely changed. He did not apologize however and did not show disability awareness. He stopped being openly hostile. That’s an absurd threshold for care from a place that champions its compassion. I have never felt so made less than by a medical provider in his role. I haven’t recovered from the trauma months later and am sharing my experience in the hope it will protect others. In the many times I’ve met new providers, they always thank me for sharing patient intro info. It helps them do their job easier which makes me more likely to get better care for physical needs instead of stigmatized for mental health. I’ve since continued to use this facility under a different internal medicine doctor and their team. The fact that Abdullah remains employed here puts patients with disability or neurodivergence at risk, should they be so unlucky as to see him. Patient Relations did not provide satisfaction for my concerns. UPDATE: SSM Health’s reply here is cruel. I have requested no contact with Abdullah. Replying on his behalf violates my autonomy and patient rights. Patient Relations already declined to take satisfactory action.

Dr. Cooper just made decisions by reading my chart vs talking to me. Made me feel like im not a human. Just a statistic. I will never go there again.

I had a very disappointing experience with SSM Health, similar to other reviews I’ve read. I went in for preventative tests that should have been fully covered by my insurance. However, SSM coded the bill incorrectly, and I was left responsible for the balance. After talking with my insurance provider, I requested that SSM recode and resubmit the claim, and was told it would take a specific number of days. When I followed up after that time frame, I learned they still hadn’t done it. In the meantime, they told me I had to pay the bill or it would be sent to collections. To protect my credit, I set up a payment plan and provided my banking information, assuming the payments would process automatically. Despite that, I never received any notification or billing for the payment plan. no emails, no letters, nothing. Then I discovered they had sent the bill to collections anyway. I have no idea if they’ll even bother to recode the claim now. This experience has shown me that SSM Health cares more about collecting money than about patient care or doing what’s right. It’s incredibly frustrating to do everything by the book, maintain insurance, follow their procedures, try to pay responsibly, and still be penalized for their mistakes. If they can’t handle a simple coding correction properly, how can patients trust them with larger bills? I will not be returning to SSM Health.

Excellent health care provided by the Sun Prairie Internal Medicine Department. The Internists are quite knowledgeable, attentively listen to my concerns and respond in a compassionate and thoughtful manner. The medical assistants make a concerted effort to make sure I have all my prescribed medication available. They have always been courteous and quite efficient in their interactions with me even on the most busy clinic days. The reception staff are courteous snd respectful of my privacy
