AMERICARE ASSISTED LIVING OF ROLLING HILLS

Unsanitary. Understaffed. Unsafe. I moved my mother into the memory care wing of this facility just over a year ago and could not be more horrified by the conditions and lack of care that I witnessed. This includes multiple, documented incidents of: 1. recent bed bugs infestation 2. medication mismanagement (my mother was given a triple overdose of one medication, dispensed another resident's medication, and had her emergency inhaler destroyed without authorization) 3. residents left soiled and neglected 4. serious falls among various residents that resulted in broken hips for two of them 5. constant staff turnover and 6. increased dependence on poorly trained temp workers, etc. Given the glowing reviews, my comments may seem like an outlier. However, it is actually a reflection of the drastic decline of Merrill Gardens in the past 10 months. Despite repeated efforts by myself and other families to address these issues with management and several, separate complaints filed to the Department of Social Services, leadership has failed to properly respond and course correct. As a result, we have been forced to remove our loved ones and place them elsewhere for their safety and well being. Given how Merrill Gardens treats its most vulnerable residents (those with severe dementia), I would highly discourage anyone from considering this facility; it not only demonstrates their lack of care and quality but also their lack of humanity.

Merrill Gardens Rolling Hills is an exceptional community. From the moment you walk in, you can feel how warm, welcoming, and well cared for it is. The staff is professional, compassionate, and truly goes above and beyond to make residents and families feel supported. The community is beautifully maintained, the atmosphere is calm and friendly, and there’s a genuine sense of respect and dignity in how residents are treated. It’s clear that a lot of heart goes into what they do here. I would highly recommend Merrill Gardens Rolling Hills to anyone looking for a safe, comfortable, and caring senior living community.

After searching multiple senior living options, Merrill Gardens was the one! It is such a beautiful, bright and cheerful community and was the right place for my mom. The staff are second to none, everyone is so friendly, informative and helpful from the front desk, activities director, med techs, restaurant staff to the management team. Haley and Tracey in particular made our transition and move-in experience seamless. We are very grateful! It is such a pleasant place for family to visit as well. Mom is very happy in her new home. She moved in three months ago and has made many friends. She is enjoying the meals at the restaurant, the social hours, all the activities from Bingo to painting to yoga and many more. She also loves having the gym on-site for early morning exercises. She said that she is never moving out! 😃 Thank you all at MG!

Merrill Gardens is an exceptional independent and assisted living community. My mother, Margie, feels truly privileged to call it home. The staff are outstanding — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. The accommodations feel like a five-star hotel, yet with all the warmth and comfort of home. Margie’s quote” There are all types of interesting intelligent people here, from all walks of life. The MG residents have been one of the loveliest surprises …getting to know many new friends and working on my social chops at 88, I’m so grateful !” Meals with the girls or if preferred alone in the elegant dining room has become a highlight. The activities are thoughtfully designed to engage independent, discerning residents who love to stay in shape mentally & physically, or just to have fun. Don’t forget to check out the movie theater… Very up-to-date shows & movies, with popcorn and all!! As my mom Margie was being discharged from Torrance Memorial Hospital we were concerned that bringing her home wouldn’t support her “no stairs” requirement. Thank Goodness the Merrill Gardens Community relations director Haley Back was available to hear our story. Haley bent over backwards to host an emergency visit, coordinate a viewing of -Apartment choices & closed the NEW resident deal in 24 hours. Haley works magic & is so dedicated, THE BEST. We know there are many choices in the Southbay for assisted living, but we’re so grateful for the vibrant, supportive personalized experience that Merrill Gardens provides every day.

We've been looking for a place for my folks. The past month or 2, we've visited quite a few facilities in the South Bay, but not with much luck... but most recently visited Merrill Gardens in Rolling Hills, My folks are both in their mid-eighties and moving from a big home. As we toured the property we noticed how it was very homey and welcoming. It was very clean and tidy. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly. This is important, as this is where they will be living life and interfacing and with the staff on a daily basis. After my mom spoke with a couple of the residents my folks really felt very comfortable there. We have decided to move forward with Merrill Gardens. Also we did our research and everything checked out, the reviews are all good and positive and the other residents had great things to say.
