I feel compelled to share my alarming experience with this boarding care facility, as it raises serious ethical concerns. I discovered that they took advantage of a client with dementia. They changed his Social Security payee without proper justification and repeatedly told him his family was behind on rent, using threats of eviction to manipulate him. After the payee change, they reported him missing to the Sheriff’s Department, but months later, I learned from the coroner that he had been admitted to the ER with respiratory failure and unfortunately passed away. Shockingly, the facility did not inform the authorities or the family that he had been found and continued collecting his Social Security payments. To make matters worse, a few weeks after his passing, I received a court summons because the facility was trying to sue me for back rent. I brought all my receipts to court, but the owner pretended not to speak English and dropped the case. It was clear they were exploiting his condition to benefit financially. Even more concerning, the Sheriff’s Department reached out to us because they had not been informed about the client's situation. The owner then attempted to close the client’s bank account, falsely claiming to be the successor to any remaining funds, which could potentially cover funeral costs. I strongly advise anyone considering this facility to proceed with caution. Their actions show a troubling lack of care for vulnerable individuals and their families.
