With a short time period, blizzard of 2026 and other challenges facing us, I was overwhelmed with the task of finding a new home for our mom. Gracie was a Godsend with her cheerful and calm manner, help coordinating with other services and keeping an open line of communication with me and our family to get our mother moved into a safe, comfortable new home. Once moved in I was so pleased to witness staff kindness as well as the other residents friendliness to make her feel welcome. From Dorothy bringing fresh water, to medical staff and everyone assisting in her care, they have been a blessing. Our family is grateful to the Appledorn family that has over 12 years provided amazing facilities for our mom and and friends both in independent and assisted living.

Excellent care and wonderful people! I’m thankful for the kind and compassionate care Appledorn Assisted Living staff gives my parents. Thank you! Also, thank you Gracie for your patient support in helping me to select just the right place for Mom and Dad to live.

We have had three family members reside at Appledorn South over the years. One was in memory care, another under Hospice care, and the third is currently in assisted living. The staff members are friendly, supportive, and helpful in all kinds of situations. If you’re researching options for your loved one, I encourage you to give Appledorn South consideration. Assisted living may not be anyone’s first choice for our family members. Appledorn, however, works closely with you to ensure that it feels as close to home as possible while providing a healthy and safe living environment.

My husband and I are very pleased with our decision to move to Appledorn South. The staff is wonderful, from the friendly, smiling greeter, the inviting management team, to the incredible med techs. We have monthly family friendly events and activities we look forward to and great views of the outdoors for quiet reading time. The kitchen prepares a great variety of meals and decadent desserts daily. We are also fortunate to have salon services, a porter delivering beverages and a full laundry service so we can finally enjoy retirement! Most importantly is the safety and security here, with 24 hour medical staff and key pad entry, I know we are safe. I will continue to recommend Appledorn South to anyone who is ready to move. -Tom and Erika Bos

We chose Appledorn South for our dad two years ago for a couple of reasons: #1. he had been at Appledorn East for 12 years and that had been a good experience. #2. we would not have to move our dad again, he was on hospice and the deteriorating in health would not mean another move. That was very important to us. The staff at south became family. Yes, there were staff who left and came back or new staff were hired, but they loved our dad and they loved me -- his primary person. When our dad died, four staff members who had cared for our dad for the entire two years were with me. They shared in my dad's life and in his death. Being a care giver in a facility is hard work! And emotional work. And a not highly paid position. I feel like the administration at South is hopefully getting settled. In the two years my dad was there, the administration turnover was palpable. I do not know the reasons for that, but it was difficult for the staff and for families -- not knowing who to go to for various issues. As I said, I am hopeful that some of the key roles are now being filled by people who will stay with the facility and residents. If I had any words of advice to help people who choose to have their parents cared for in a facility, it would be to get to know the staff and administration. They are taking care of your loved one and they need the support too. The entire staff gave a "walk of honor" for my dad when he passed away. I was able to call almost every person (around 20) who came to walk my dad out of the facility, by name. I loved/love them. It's important to know the staff. My family is grateful for the care given to our dad, grandpa and great grandpa at Appledorn South.
