Each time that I visit The Artesian located in Ojai, I am always immediately struck by the calming beauty and elegant charm the Mediterranean architecture permeates as you walk around the grounds and the sense of “home” I feel when I enter the inner sanctuaries. You can feel the care that went into the design of this senior living residence. But, more importantly, I have known others whose parents have lived at The Artesian and they all speak so highly of the positive experience their parents have enjoyed. I often reflect on how The Artesian would definitely be top on my list to consider as a residence for my aging parent.

Our parents moved into the Artesian in December 2023. This was a quick decision as they had been living on their own until November and many things happened that made it apparent that they were no longer able to live on their own. I reached out to two Ojai facilities and found that The Artesian had more to offer. Opened in 2020 it was so shiny and new! We loved it. My parents have adjusted well and enjoy all the members of the community. The staff is amazing and so caring. The are now eating three wonderful meals a day and are safe and secure in their cute "apartment". There are many activities for them to participate in and also some throughout each month for families to attend. There is no pressure from staff to participate in any of them, if that's not your thing, which is great. We were worried about that at first but have had no problems. Dad likes bingo so he enjoys that! I highly recommend The Artesian and am so thankful my parents are close and I can visit them daily.

Our father has been at the Artesian for about 6 months and we are so pleased with the care and comfort he receives there. The staff are all so caring, friendly, attentive, and approachable. Seems like the owners of the facility are there at least once a week doing chores, and chatting with everyone. :-) We love the way the beautiful new buildings are laid out with a central kitchen/dining room, living room, and den for each building. It truly feels like a home! (unlike other facilities that feel more like a hotel) What a relief it is to have finally found his "forever home". UPDATE: Dad's been at The Artesian of Ojai almost 2 years and we are still very pleased. It's very home-like, he can retreat to his private room to read or nap, or go to the common areas for conversation and activities if he desires. All with us knowing that someone has an eye on him and is taking care of (and keeping notes about) his daily needs. One nice thing that I have noticed is that the staff seems to have a very low turn-over rate - the same friendly helpers have been there all this time.

The Artesian of Ojai is a one of a kind facility that offers many aspects of amazing care for your loved ones. From Daniel, who always greets you at the front desk with a huge smile, to Amber, Andrea, CeCe, Jackie & Michelle who manage to take standards of care to the highest level possible. The Artesian has varying levels of care for our elderly loved ones. The facility is super clean, the common areas are spotless & furniture is new & comfortable. Home-made meals at every sitting. Every resident is clean & taken care of with every need addressed. No poop smell here! Residents are treated to different activities on & off property, games & exercises that stimulate mind & body. Frequent communication between caregivers, staff & family let you keep abreast of all changes & resident needs. We love this place! It's always a very, very difficult decision to place your family member in a facility, but we have only been happy & completely satisfied with the care our loved one receives. Thank you to everyone at The Artesian for the love & kindness & exceptional care that you provide to all our family members!

We moved my mother to the Artesian toward the end of the pandemic from another assisted living facility in the Ojai valley. The layout of each building at the Artesian with 16 studios off a common living, dining, and kitchen area was far superior to her previous facility which required residents to walk to the common areas for dining and social activities. The Artesian's layout insured that staff, friends and neighbors are always close at hand. This became critical during the isolation of the pandemic and improved my mother's state of mind immediately. The staff was terrific from day one, each member incredibly attentive, compassionate, caring and patient. There were a few technical glitches in the beginning with some of their mechanical systems as one might expect from any new facility, but those were addressed and resolved in the first year of their operation. There were occasional issues and complaints about food, as there almost always are at these kinds of facilities, but the Artesian staff really responded to suggestions and made improvements. Most importantly, all the food is fresh and prepared individually. Social engagement is also given a high priority at the Artesian and something seems to be going on there every day - from sing-alongs, to games and group physical activities. Eventually, my mother required hospice care from an outside provider. The Artesian staff accommodated this change to her care, coordinating their staff to integrate seamlessly with the hospice aids and nurses. I can't imagine how this could have been managed better. As my mother declined in the last year of her life, the staff was in constant contact with us and became like family. Their kindness and care for my family as well as my mother will not soon be forgotten, and I hope they know how much it was seen and appreciated. Most importantly, I really believe everyone at the Artesian truly cares for their residents as if they were members of their own family. To my way of thinking, this is what matters most.
