When my mother made the difficult decision to move my father into memory care, we chose Pacific Living on a recommendation she had received from a health worker. We appreciated the house-like atmosphere at the Bend location and it turned out they had a room just when we needed it. My father was there for about 10 months before he passed. I feel the care he received there was excellent. The staff was so dedicated. They really got to know him and did their level best to care for him each day. The executive director and assistant director are wonderful. If we had questions or needed something changed they were knowledgable and responsive. I can’t recommend Pacific Living Center in Bend highly enough.

After a fall (and subsequent hospitalization) in August of 2024, while living independently, doctors diagnosed our 92-year-old mother with Alzheimer's and referred her to memory care. All family members live out of state and Mom has been adamant about remaining in Bend for the rest of her life, so navigating "where do we go from here?" was quite challenging. The kind and compassionate director of Pacific Living Center was one of the first people to reach out to us with an offer to meet with Mom to determine if she would be a good fit to join their "family". Since PLC is a smaller memory care residence, with more of a home-like atmosphere, we felt like it would be the best-case scenario for our mother's needs. She'd been very independent for many years and was quite unhappy to know that she wouldn't be returning to her apartment, so it took time to settle in to such a different life and make her peace with circumstances, but since moving into PLC in September of 2024, Mom has been met with kindness, compassion and loving care and attention by the staff. Due to the diligence of the director and assistant at quickly noticing concerning symptoms soon after Mom's arrival to PLC, she was transported to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. We believe that due to their ability to monitor a smaller number of residents at PLC, that Mom's symptoms were noticed in a much more timely manner than they might have been in a larger facility. Now that those initial and somewhat traumatic events are in the past for her, Mom has been able to recover and adjust to life in care and, though she still misses her "old life" sometimes, she also consistently tells us that she loves the staff at PLC, that they take good care of her and "it's a good, secure place for someone old like me to live." :) Since she's still able to communicate well, we regularly speak to Mom on the phone and are able to assess her unfiltered opinions, which always put our minds at ease. In spite of the challenges that are a part of working with Alzheimer's/dementia residents, we're grateful for the continued good humor, hard work and cheerfulness of the caregivers. During our trips to Bend, we've experienced this for ourselves. The facility is clean and well-kept and the home-cooked meals in the open kitchen look and smell wonderful! Also, long-distance communication being absolutely essential in our circumstances, we've been grateful for regular emails, texts and phone calls from the director or assistant regarding Mom. Without question, we absolutely recommend Pacific Living Center of Bend for those seeking a smaller, "family/home" atmosphere and excellent caregiving for their loved ones.

When looking for a memory care facility for our 41 year old daughter recently diagnosed with FTD, we did thorough due-diligence, contacting virtually all of the residential and adult foster homes in Bend on OR-DHS' approved list. We first interviewed them over the phone, then made personal visits and were given tours. We narrowed our list to three facilities. The home on Conners Avenue is now owned and managed by Pacific Living Centers, and has had a positive change in management and operation since they acquired the facility. We found both the local and regional management and staff highly qualified, friendly, competent and truly dedicated to caring for the residents and have been quite willing to work with us to make our daughter comfortable and well cared for. They have full transparency and openness for us to visit at any time; the facility is clean, well tended, and maintained. The residents are respected and treated as individuals. Our daughter has actually begun to thrive in the positive atmosphere. We want the best for our adult child, and are so very glad to have found PLC-Bend for her to call home.
