This community has attentive, professionals who care about residents and resident outcome. They have dedicated caregivers that have been in this community for a long time. Tami the activity director, Alex the med aid lead and Yesenia the Resident Care Director are invariably what makes this community stand out. These ladies are truly the backbone of this community and keep residents engaged in fun daily activities, safe with their medications, and overall open communication with family members regarding needs and status of their loved ones. Yesenia is committed to high standards of care and this trickles down to the rest of staff. She knows each resident individually, and those that are able to often stop by her office just to chat. The draw back of this community is one that affects most assissted living and skill nurse communities, they need more staff.

Deeply Concerned Family Member – Please Read Before Moving Your Loved One Here I rarely ever write reviews, but after the experience my family has had with Novellus Cypresswood, I feel like I owe it to other families to share. As a concerned family member and someone who works in healthcare, I truly wish I could give this community a better review. Many of the on-site staff are caring, hardworking people doing their best with very little support obviously from upper management. Yesenia has been an absolute blessing, always going above and beyond for residents and families. The newer managers and the young lady in billing are also doing everything they can despite being stretched thin. Tamro has been wonderful in helping my sister navigate our mother’s billing issues. William, the maintenance man, deserves recognition too. He’s kind and dependable, but he’s the only maintenance person for 30 plus residents and the entire facility. That’s simply not safe or sustainable. The food has improved greatly since the previous kitchen manager left, and residents have definitely noticed. Unfortunately, the real problem lies with corporate leadership, particularly Greg, the VP of Operations. He’s been unhelpful, dismissive, and disconnected from both families and I’m sure he’s that way with staff. Residents that I often check on told me he visited recently, residents said he stayed in his office the whole time instead of meeting with families or residents. That says a lot. There’s been constant leadership turnover with five or six Executive Directors in just 1 year, and only three care staff at night, which raises real safety concerns. Billing issues are another major problem, with families being charged for things that should be included in the base rate. This is no fault of the staff onsite. It often feels like profit matters more than care, especially with rate increases happening every six months and little improvement to show for it. The carpets and furniture are extremely old and warn down. Don’t get me started on the dishes that they serve the residents meals on, that’s been for the past 2 years. Again no fault of the onsite staff as they are newer. Through my work and connections with case workers, I’ve heard similar concerns, including unpaid bills and a growing lack of trust. It’s heartbreaking because people like Yesenia, Tammi, the kitchen lead, and the billing clerk truly care. We’ve raised our concerns directly with Greg, only to be met with rudeness and dismissal. At this point, my family has begun looking elsewhere for our mother’s care. This isn’t out of anger; it’s out of love and concern for her safety and well-being. Please look closely before choosing this community. The staff care deeply, but until maybe upper leadership changes, the problems will continue no matter how many executives they hire.

Im a paramedic and visited this location a few times. It is always hot, the Air conditioner is broken. The residents are always in bad shape. The workers seem carless and never know what is going on with residents. I have talk to them manager, i believe her name is Yesenia and she does not know anything either. I always thought she was a nurse but she is not. This is a bad look for the place. I always feel sad and down for the residents when i have to come to the place. Each time its always new people, the employees never stick around and i wonder why.

Had to make the difficult decision to place father-in-law into memory care from late stage Alzheimer’s. Bethany at Novellus was amazing, she coordinated the hospital discharge and moving him into the facility all in less than 24 hrs. She personally stayed late to make sure the move in was smooth and came the next day on a holiday weekend to ensure things were ok. Can’t recommend this place more highly, he is being extremely well cared for and loved every day. Bethany and all the staff are true blessings to our family.

I’m very happy here and I am so happy my children chose this place for me. Lupe and her partner are wonderful. William is great. Cooking staff is working on their stuff. Activities are very important to me and they are fantastic. Tammy works very hard to make us happy. Management worked very hard during the power outage.
