AVALON MEMORY CARE ATASCOSITA

One of the hardest decision was to place my dad in a home. Unfortunately, Avalon was not our first memory care choice and sadly, my father suffered at the other location with a broken wrist the second week of his stay and a broken finger the second month of his stay. Out of desperation we found AVALON and they worked with us to get my dad transferred right away! Thank you Meg! The caregivers at Avalon had good knowledge and experience with dementia patients. They knew the actions were not the person rather the decease! All the caregivers knew my dad because caregivers rotate patients so everyone gets to know every patient. My dad had us, his family, for patients that do not have family or visitors, they have the caregivers! Caregivers that hold their hand, fix their hair, sit next to them; these caregivers are truly Godsend and I appreciate them very much! The cooks and the cleaning crew at AVALON also showed endearment and care for my dad. Thank you AVALON for caring for my dad!

We placed my mother with Avalon once she reached the stage of needing more than people still working could provide. She stayed 2 1/2 years until the horrible disease of dementia charged it's ultimate price. The care giving people at Avalon are absolute ANGELS!! My mother could be quite difficult at times, but they treated her with kindness and dignity. And they held my hand as I fretted through all of the inevitable changes in Mom. They're familiar with memory diseases and know how to best work with people who have them. Way more than me! It's a nice facility - not huge and institution like. They keep a close eye on the residents there and kept me informed when there was any indication at all of needing medical attention. There are mobile doctors, dentists, even a podiatrist that visit the facility regularly. They also have someone come in to do haircuts or whatever other type "beauty" treatment might be wanted. We felt like Mom was taken care of absolutely as well as a person with dementia will allow. Mom isn't with us anymore, but I still thank the stars that Avalon was there when we needed them!

We did quite a bit of research for my sister’s care, as my family was in denial my sister even needed care.  Friends told us to call brokers, but those calls led nowhere, as we needed very specific questions answered for a memory care facility I felt we could depend on.  When it came time, my sister was expedited through the process quickly and comfortably.  She is flourishing, as she now takes her medicine daily, she gets 3 “really good” meals a day, and is treated with respect.  Respect is observed each and every time I visit, but the way she looks at her caregivers is why I am still so confident in the decision of Avalon.  The staff here are gracious to the residents, gracious to guests and family members, but most of all, the way they work together to make a home feeling, is what sets Avalon apart.  Kudos to the Atascocita group!

We made the difficult decision to move my mother into a memory care facility almost two years ago. Choosing Avalon Memory Care made this choice so much easier and less stressful as it was clear she would be well taken care of. I loved the homey feeling of the place right away. I have been very happy with the quality of care and regular loving attention she is given. Any concerns or requests are handled quickly and professionally, and the manager is quick to share information about any issues that arise. I appreciate the low turn-over rate of their employees as this has allowed the staff to get to know her better and anticipate her needs. The staff has handled the challenges of the COVID outbreak with care and compassion for both the residents and their families who are struggling with not being able to see them regularly. I would definitely recommend Avalon to anyone looking for memory care for a loved one.

My 91 year old mother has lived in the Timber Forest location of Avalon Memory Care for over two years. It is a beautiful, clean, and comfortable environment with professional and kind caregivers. Mother suffers from dementia and gets around in a wheelchair. She is able to feed herself, but requires assistance with most tasks like personal hygiene, toileting, and dressing. The Avalon staff is readily available for all her needs. We are happy that our mother is so content and well cared for. We highly recommend this facility to others.
