I really cannot thank the team at Avalon Memory Care enough. Everyone from their incredibly kind nurse helping us with placement to the director of the facility, Ms. Athena, and her team at the Boat Club Rd location. I'm in my early 30s, and did not think I would need help with my mom so early in my life. It was the hardest decision I've ever made, but when it got out of control at home, I feared I couldn't keep my job to support us and keep my mom safe with the type of care she needed. It's always been just me and her versus the world, but when I finally sought help they caught us and have kept my mom safe in some of her most challenging moments. It's just something I was not capable of doing myself. They walked me through the hardest parts of the process, and took the time to sit down and talk me through some of her challenges and coming up with plans to address them. Dementia is so difficult, and they know that, so I appreciate even the moments when they offered me comfort and reassurances - those are parts of the job they don't have to do, but they clearly care about everyone involved in that process. If anyone reading this is hesitant about whether or not it's the right time to seek help for a loved one, just know they're safe here. And you will grieve their absence at home, but know they're going to be somewhere more equipped to handle the needs of someone with those cognitive struggles. It's better for both of you in the long-term. They're doing incredibly hard work there, work a lot of people could not do. I hope everyone visiting the facility or communicating with memory care staff remembers that, and they show the team the same kindness and compassion they show residents. I've never encountered someone at the facility too busy to help me or talk to me, even though I'm sure they've always got an incredibly long to-do list. It's hard work, and I appreciate y'all so much.

I want to thank the Avalon staff for helping me with the care of my husband. I tried to do it by myself, but could not do it as it became a 24 hour job. Avalon was a blessing to us, the staff was always gracious and helpful. They took care of him, showered him, gave him haircuts, and helped to feed him when he couldn't. I went everyday to see him and Athena and her staff listened to any concerns we had regarding his decline and provided updates. He was well taken care of and I appreciated all their work during his stay there.

My father was at Avalon with Dimentia for 3 years and I could not have asked for a better place. My father received exceptional care. The employees became family to all of us and truly love and care for all the patients. My father also loved all the staff.

My late husband received such excellent care at Avalon Memory Care on Boat Club Road in Fort Worth. Every worker was so kind and patient with him and cared for him just as I would have. In conjunction with AllStar Hospice, they did a wonderful job of managing medications to get just the right combination for him. The food was excellent and they played fun music during meals. They also have people come in each week to sing and play music which the residents love. They respond positively to music. I can highly recommend Avalon Memory Care.

Avalon was an attractive facility, always very clean, staff was very friendly and always offering to help. What concerned me is at night and some weekends, there were only male staff present (usually 2 or 3), and every time only one of them spoke English - and not very much, as he admitted to me himself. I also have no idea what level of healthcare training any of them had; if any. What if there is a medical emergency, how can they communicate? That is why as soon as I was able I began spending nights there with my mom.
