My wife and I cannot say enough great things about this place. Caring for a loved one with rapidly advancing dementia is one of life's great challenges, but Avalon Memory Care was there for us every step of the way. Over the past year of caring for my mom, her final year as life would have it, we knew she was truly loved and in caring, capable hands. We are so grateful for the grace, warmth and competence displayed by the entire staff during her stay in their care. Sincerely, Ashley and Jeff Pate

As a hospice team, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside this memory care community and are continually impressed by the quality of care provided. The staff is attentive, compassionate, and truly dedicated to their residents. The residents we see are consistently well cared for, engaged, and happy—and even the meals are always excellent. Nicole is an outstanding leader. She sets the tone for such a warm, welcoming environment, and it shows in how personable and thoughtful the entire team is. We’ve witnessed firsthand the genuine love and commitment they have for their residents, and it’s nothing short of astounding. This is truly a community where residents and families can feel confident that their loved ones are in the best hands.

I absolutely love Avalon memory care! My mother lived in a different, assisted, living for memory care. They were negligent in taking care of her there, and she even fell and broke her hip at 89 years old. Avalon has my full trust with my mother. The ratio between nurses and residence is very low, which provides one on one contact. When you open those doors you walk into a majestic great room with a rock fireplace and you feel like you’re in a log cabin. I highly recommend Avalon memory care as I wish I would have known about them before placing my mother in the facility she was in.

First of all, I want to say a huge Thank You to the caregivers at my Mom’s Tuckerton location.Throughout and even before this pandemic got to this level, they were taking extra care and precautions to protect everyone. I call them, The Caring Angels, have really looked out for Mom with lots of love and understanding about her needs. Mom feels so comfortable with everyone there and thrives in the environment. My sisters, friends, and relatives notice how well Mom is doing. I’d like to add that the staff keeps you well informed and stays in touch with me. I work crazy hours so I’m not always available to visit Mom as much as I’d like to, but I am comfortable knowing she is well cared-for. The other note that I’d like to add is that you can discuss any aspect of their care and they will always listen and respond . I had visited several homes before Avalon and one of the things which impressed me about Avalon, is that it was always clean and smelled clean. I know that sounds weird but I am a pharmacist and have worked in hospital environment where everything sterile, so an extremely clean environment is a big deal in my book. Rick, the owner operator is at Avalon full time, so he is not an absentee owner. Rudy, Rick’s son, is also there full time and involved with residents. They are involved in the day to day needs of the home. It is family run and also has a family atmosphere. I highly recommend Avalon at Tuckerton if you are seeking excellent care for your loved-one.

When it came time that my dad needed round-the-clock care, my husband and I took a weekend and visited many facilities. Avalon was the first place we looked. We were highly impressed; the place is built for 20 or fewer residents, and we liked that it wasn't so big that Dad might get lost in the shuffle. The employee-to-resident ratio was the best of ALL the seven places we visited. The residential rooms were among the largest of all the facilities, and each room has its own bathroom, another plus! More than all of this, we were impressed with the gentleman who gave us the tour of Avalon, and his seemingly genuine love of the place and the residents, a few of whom he introduced us to, which was nice. After visiting several other places, we ended up moving Dad into Avalon. He most definitely did NOT want to leave his house, but his mental state was such that he could not care for himself at all anymore (although you wouldn't realize this if you met him for the first time. Like many people with this malady, he had the ability to hide it if you didn't spend a fair amount of time with him). Although his first day there was heartbreaking for him (and therefore, for US) he had forgotten it all by the following day, much to our relief. It turned out to be one of the best things we ever did for Dad. At home he did not have much contact with the outside world anymore, whereas here he had a lot of contact with people (which is GOOD!) but was able to be alone in his room anytime he so desired. The family who runs the Tuckerton Road location are the nicest, most helpful group of folks, and their staff are the same. They were so good to my dad, and that means everything! It takes a special kind of person to work with dementia patients; it can be such a thankless job. Avalon had the best! I was welcome to come and go there anytime of the day or night before Covid, which was nice, and I was also welcome to join Dad for meals, which I have done, and the food was always delicious. I never had anything there that wasn't good! It was always good to know he was getting good, healthy food and I didn't have to worry if I couldn't get over to visit him for a few days; I knew he was in THE best hands in every way. Its very reassuring to know this about your loved one. I know my dad felt comfortable there for all of the two years he lived there, before he passed away peacefully in November 2019. I am very thankful for the Wrabels, and for Avalon.
