I would highly recommend the Avalon Memory Care facility because they provide a family home environment with a caring and respectful staff as opposed to a sterile institutional setting which we experienced elsewhere with my husband’s parents. The empathy that the company instills in their staff from the top down is unparalleled. I remember when my infant daughter was in daycare and the frightening feeling of vulnerability because my daughter could not communicate to me how she was being treated in daycare. Little did I know that I would revisit that same feeling of vulnerability when I checked my 90 year old mother into the Avalon facility. This July will mark her 6th year as a resident at Avalon. But the difference is that the staff at the Avalon Allencrest house is there because they respect and feel privileged to serve those who are the most vulnerable. I would highly recommend their facilities to anyone faced with finding a loving, caring and dedicated facility for their loved one.

A little over a year ago me and my siblings decided to transfer my Mom from a good, but more institutional environment to this homey, residential setting. We are glad we did. The tree-lined street of single family homes reminds us of the childhood neighborhood where she and Dad raised five children. Inside, she has a nice room with queen bed and sofa/TV that is steps from a warm and inviting kitchen where she can smell coffee and breakfast when she wakes up. When we visit, often we will bring a meal in and enjoy a private dining room/living room space with just her and family. Daily life for her takes place in an open den and dining area. The TV is set to shows the residents remember. The dining table doubles as a place for bingo and other board games. On nice days, the residents may sit on the patio in the private backyard. All of the residents appear well-cared for by patient staff. The trade off between a large institution and a small home is there are fewer activities. That means the pace of life is slow here. But that is actually the same pace she enjoyed in her final years in her own home so it works for her. Grace oversees the day to day care of the residents in this particular home and I can't think of anyone I would like better looking after Mom or myself should I every need that care. I strongly recommend this home. Thank you Grace for all that you do.
