AVALON SQUARE

My parents have lived in all 3 care levels provided at Avalon. Both Mom and Dad started in Independent Living. At that time, my mom was a full time care giver for my dad. They attended in house activities. Workers were extremely pleasant, my parents were known on a first name basis. Family visited often, some even spent the night in their spacious office/extra bedroom. Overnight parking was offered at a small fee. Family knew Mom and Dad were in a safe engaging environment. When my mom needed help caring for my dad, he was transitioned to Specialty Care. With Dad's issues with dementia, he was angry and often refused services. With onsite medical care and the staff's consistent efforts to cajole my dad into accepting services, he became a willing participant. He and my mom attended numerous activities together. Visits went well, great grandchildren are still talking about one of their visits that coincided with baby goats. Mom stayed in Independent living until just before her 90th birthday. I had begun to receive phone calls and emails alerting me to growing concerns about falls and changes in her behavior. We had a staff health care meeting with Mom present and deciding it was time for her to receive help, which precipitated her move to Assisted Living. Mom loves not preparing meals, and socializing with new friends in the dinning room. As staff have noted more change we have reconvened family health care meetings and have easily added services including help bathing, dressing and being escorted to meals. With these added assists, she has energy to continue participating in many activities like Brainy Bunch, Public Library book checkout, and musical performances. I look forward to being able to join her for some upcoming art activities. Mom wears a call button that she can push if she needs help. She has fallen several more times, and staff are soon there to assist her. Her living arrangements and care have giving my family peace of mind knowing that she is safe, active and well fed! We are fortunate to have found Avalon Square as a residence for aging parents. Service providers are friendly and they KNOW my mom and care about her. It is great having a team of people to help provide care and share in the enormous responsibility of keeping mom happy and safe. We highly recommend this facility. Richard and Susan L.

My mom lived in an independent living apartment at Avalon for 4 years. She loved every minute of living there. She enjoyed participating in the many activities on a daily basis. There was a wide variety of choices! She made many great friends there. The staff were so caring, kind, and helpful. They were always willing to answer any questions we had. They also knew the residents well! My mom always felt safe while living there. The whole place was recently remodeled and it is beautiful! She enjoyed having the option of eating dinner in the dining. The food was always good! The only complaint was that I wish my mom would have moved there sooner!

I am pleased to share my family's exceptional experience with Avalon Square. My mother has been a resident here for over 10 years, initially in independent living and recently transitioning to assisted living. Throughout her time, the entire staff has consistently shown incredible kindness and care towards her. Their dedication is truly heartwarming. The facility itself is immaculately maintained (most of the common area and many units were completely renovated over the past 2 years), offering a range of amenities that enhance the quality of life for its residents. The on-site restaurant provides nutritious meals, while the fitness center encourages active lifestyles. There are activities almost daily, ensuring there's always something engaging to look forward to. One of the highlights is their organized weekly outings to local grocery stores and restaurants, which has helped my Mom get out into the community. Periodic entertainment events and guest speakers add variety and excitement to their lives. Additionally, they offer church services every Sunday. We've also been impressed with how safe and secure Avalon Square feels. They require key fobs to enter and have secure underground parking for residents. Overall, my family highly recommends Avalon Square where seniors can thrive in comfort and happiness.

My mother was an assisted living resident for 4 years and last year transitioned into memory care at Avalon. The staff is so kind and caring and made this transition so comfortable and it was done smoothly. The activities, the food and environment are all so perfect for those that need that level of care. I could write pages for how wonderful the staff is to her and so informative and helpful to me. Love it and would highly recommend the Avalon!

Our family is so grateful for Avalon Square. My Mom has lived independently at Avalon for nearly five years. Every experience from the front door (thank you Sue) to the executive director (always available) including many staff members have made Avalon a terrific experience for my Mom, and our family. During Covid they took great precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy with success. Because I live in a different state, I was not able to see my Mom for over a year. Avalon staff did a quick and vital pivot in order to connect families via Zoom. With the help of the great hard working lovely people at Avalon Square, we were able to see each other and visit online every week. I thought this was a very generous and compassionate life saver. I cannot stress how important this was for my Mom and for me. When I visit, I take long walks along the river and stroll the many shops of downtown Main Street. The location is terrific. The staff are wonderful.The building and apartment is sunny and lovely. I recommend Avalon Square without hesitation.
