Avendelle Garner

Before my retirement, as the Team Leader for Wake's geropsychiatric team, I often visited assisted living facilities. None compare to Miss Bell's Assisted Living. Every staff member is professional, capable, attentive, patient and respectful toward all residents and they work well with each other. I thank the administrators for hiring and maintaing quality staff and I thank all staff for their kindness to my husband and to all residents.

You would think a smaller place would be able to meet the needs of the residences but avendelle of garner does not. Once it changed ownership, care went downhill. If a resident can't feed themselves the staff will barely assist. There was outdated thickener for food stored in the cabinet, clothes and other items would go missing. One staff member was taking a test in a residents room while the resident wasnt present. Very unprofessional. Should have a space alloted for staff to have breaks or take required tests. Owner is very unprofessional. Would not recommend.

Our mother was at the Garner Avendelle facility for about 2 1\2 years. She had been at a larger facility in Virginia before coming to Avendelle. The care at Avendelle was noticeably different and much better than the care at the larger facility. Before coming to Avendelle, we were unfamiliar with the smaller residential style group home. But since our experience at there, we have recommended the smaller style to everyone we know. The staff/resident ratio is much more conducive to the individualized care that we desired for our mother. The staff became like family to us and went out of their way to see that our mother’s needs were met. The home atmosphere made a huge difference in the emotional well-being of the residents. We highly recommend the Garner facility.

My mom was in the garner location for almost 3 years, she was well taken care of. I was thankful for having found them.
