Bickford of Aurora

From Sept 2024-Nov2025... Roughly charged 83,000 and some change. Fee was raised twice during stay. When asked for doctor documents for reasoning of increase, email was ignored and never responded to. They're business model reminds me of the Movie " I Care... A Lot. Staff seemed nice and caring, although repeatedly took soda, and snacks from mother's room. Mom was kind enough not to complain. But seems inappropriate for staff to consider that was ok. The 55.00 hair salon fee also seems to be a little excessive. Fact that we had to take my Mom shopping on a regular basis, when they assured us they take guests out to do so, rarely happens. To the extent of my mother reaching out to me for Toilet paper. And received email on the problem of garbage bags for rooms that we had to provide. It was sad to visit and see guest basically wheeled out to sit in front of T.V. left there. So at these prices I would definitely check into in home care. It could save you thousands per month My Mom is much happier now that she's at home with family. Yes there are some difficulties in doing so. But a little sacrifice goes a long way, when it comes to family. Don't let these people con you. As with any business they're there for one reason... Profitablity, and man is business good.

We moved our folks in January 2025 and moved them out September 2025. Please know that what we were promised upon moving in does not happen and wonder if it’s even currently possible in today’s health care environment. The aids are a revolving door as they are not valued, so difficult to establish any stability day to day. Health care in general is understaffed everywhere we have come to find out. When you are paying top dollar out of your pocket to be there it’s somewhat disheartening. If 1 of the aids calls out, the others are left to pick up slack and they are already stretched thin….. but the patients best not complain, it’s just the way it is we were told. (We are finding having our folks at home with caregivers is much better for my parents and the care is one on one vs. 1-3 caregivers for 60+ people.) The management is tone deaf, does not listen and is always right. Term limits may be suggested here for key management roles as after too much time in one space, people become desensitized and it shows. It’s mind boggling to us there are no challenging reviews posted? Most reviews are from a year ago? Which is a shame honestly as it’s not a realistic picture. We were told the reviews that are not glowing are deleted somehow by the management? This may be the right scenario for some people, but it was not good for our family. Please make sure to not leave your loved one anywhere without regularly checking in on them and/or ensure they have an advocate. I could say so much more but just hoping that this may help some who are new to this whole situation as we were. We learned a lot and wish you all the best.

Mom has been at Bickford since late 2021, first in assisted living, and now in Mary B's. It is a challenge to navigate care for a family member with dementia, but Bickford has been the best choice we have made. Getting to know mom, they saw things that we did not always, and when it was time to move to Mary B's, they were so helpful and made us feel this would be best for mom. And it has! She is so happy. They are always doing something that engages mom in activities she enjoys. With consistent and dedicated staff, we know that mom is thriving and enjoys her life. Thank you Bickford of Aurora!

Bickford of Aurora is a wonderful place for my parents. Both of them (and their dog!) are very well cared for. Navigating their care was a new and challenging thing for our family, and the staff at Bickford helped put our mind at ease. They are happy and safe (and well feed) - excellent chefs too!

Bickford of Aurora is a physically lovely place that looks and feels like a home away from home. The staff is kind, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to my loved one. I am never concerned that my Mom is not being cared for not only appropriately but lavishly. Bickford of Aurora is outstanding in every single department. They communicate well with each other and with the residents. The leadership at Bickford of Aurora is amazing!
