After having to move my parents from this facility after over three years in which the care was deplorable, now we have waited three months to get a refund due for over payment and they have not been responsive with the money due. It appears I am going to pursue this matter with legal counsel, the media, the BBB, the state department of Social Services and the state Attorney General’s office. It is unreal how such an organization takes advantage of senior citizens. Potential residents should avoid this facility who will tell you anything you want to hear, but severely fail to deliver on a continuous basis.

I highly suggest checking the Virginia Department of Social Services website (Licensing - Search for Assisted Living Facilities) to review complaints and violations for Bickford of Chesapeake. Management promises to deliver services that they repeatedly are unable or unwilling to provide, including basic personal care, meals according to dietary restrictions, accurate medication management, and maintaining a safe environment, including not responding to emergency calls and not making required evening rounds. They are continually understaffed and staff turnover is rapid. My family was impressed by how Bickford was presented but quickly realized we made a big mistake moving our father there.
