My mom moved into Brookdale Admiral Heights after leaving her home and a 6-month residency at a retirement community in Florida. Because she is in the mild to moderate stage of dementia, and she was leaving family and friends behind, it was a stressful transition. From the moment she arrived at the community, and even beforehand by providing me with information and guidance, the staff has been fantastic. My mom feels very safe there. She is engaged with the community. She likes the food. The caregivers are professional, personal, and kind. The management staff, from Dawn, the Executive Director, to Renee, the Health and Wellness Director, to Selah, the Resident Programs Coordinator, etc. are responsive, helpful, knowledgeable and committed to doing what is best for the residents. I want to also mention the receptionists, Brenda and Laura, who are in many ways the hub of the community. They are both fantastic – very engaged, proactive, knowledgeable (and if they don’t know the answer they will find the person who does), and kind people who want to help whenever possible; the title “receptionist” does not begin to capture the role – maybe ambassador would be a better fit. The building itself could use a bit of updating, but if you look closer you’ll see that it is well-maintained, clean, and functions well as a small community. It should also be noted that the location is great, with easy walking access to grocery stores, pharmacy, a movie theater, restaurants, and simply good neighborhood walks. Definitely worth a look if you or a family member are considering a retirement community.

My mom lived at Brookdale Admiral Heights for almost four years, and she loved it. She especially loved the social activities and was hardly ever in her apartment except to sleep, until COVID hit. During COVID, the staff did an excellent job keeping the residents safe. The reason we moved my mom recently was due to advanced dementia and other medical issues. I would especially like to give a shout-out to the very kind, friendly and helpful staff.

Brookdale Admiral Heights has been a wonderful community for my mom. The team is fully attuned to her needs and treats us with kindness and compassion, the living quarters are comfortable, the activities are FANTASTIC - between karaoke, puzzles with friends, storytelling, movie night, daily exercise class, brunch bus, book club, and now the garden club - she is never bored! Thank you to the whole team for enhancing my mom’s life, and mine. The executive director - and all team members - are fully responsive. All emergencies get an immediate response, and non-emergencies are handled within less than 24 hours. It’s a great community and I am very grateful for it.
