BROOKDALE BREA

After our first year, we are pleased to tell the world that Brookdale Brea turned out to be a fantastic place to live. The staff are great and cordial. We find any request is answered quickly and thoroughly with a smile. Our apartment is roomy and almost like our old home. The chef is very responsive to request and we have always enjoyed every meal. Housekeeping is cordial and competent. We certainly recommend Brookdale Brea to anyone no matter how fastidious they might be. On premises hairdresser and manicurist provides excellent services at a reasonable cost. We feel our life is complete here. -Dick and Peggy Dixon

Don't ever trust this negligent facility with the health and safety of your loved ones. My mom was a resident there late 2024 and underwent a hospital stay. When my mom was discharged, the hospital and Brookdale somehow forced my mom onto an expensive medication management plan that cost us a total of $2000 per month. A licensed nurse on staff failed to read the discharge order thoroughly to continue the medication as previously prescribed and withheld this same life sustaining medication for 2 entire months, even though an adequate supply of it was stockpiled in their medication room. When I called them out on this grave error, there was no remorse, apology, nor any offer of compensation for endangering my mother's health, and they still refused to restart it for a day or two after my complaint. The staff that was resposible for this error expressed no urgency nor any assurance to fix the situation and obtain what their so-called definition of an "official" order is for a legally prescribed medication in order to restart the medication. They actually thought they were in the right here! The inspector even confirmed and documented in the inspection report that a signed discharge summary "is" an official order. To add insult to injury, the facility increased my mom's rent barely 3 months after her entry there. This is not a false review, you can check their official license record from the CDSS website regarding the inspection and violation from 12/31/24.

I recently toured Brookdale Brea as I’m helping my dad transition into assisted living, and I was so impressed by everything I saw. From the moment we walked in, the community felt warm, welcoming, and incredibly well cared for. The entire place was spotless, bright, and inviting, which immediately gave me peace of mind. The dining area stood out as well—the menu options looked delicious, and the residents we saw seemed to truly enjoy their meals. It’s clear that a lot of thought goes into both the quality and variety of food offered. What really made the biggest impression, though, was the kindness of the management and staff. Everyone we spoke with was not only professional but genuinely caring and attentive. They took the time to answer all our questions, explain the services available, and reassure us that my dad would be supported in every way. Overall, I left feeling very confident that Brookdale Brea would be a wonderful place for my dad to live, with a safe, clean environment, great food, and a compassionate team that truly cares about their residents.

Brookdale was top notch. The studio apart was amazing. It didn’t look “old” like other places I had visited. Mr father is independent so the services were just right for him that were included in the monthly rent. Meals, laundry and linen service and meals were included. Staff were professional and friendly. It didn’t matter what day or time I was visiting my dad everyone was friendly. I had complete peace of mind that my father was in a safe environment and all his needs were taken care of.

Our mom has been living at Brookdale in Brea for almost one year. The staff there are beyond excellent. From the front desk through the executive director every staff member we have come in contact with have treated us like family. Brookdale is truly home. Mom is happier than ever, she loves her apartment and enjoys having so many activities available to every resident. The meals are wonderful. We were treated to a special lunch with mom on her birthday, Chef Sylvester did an amazing job and the dining room staff were so professional and kind.
