BROOKDALE HILLSBOROUGH (NJ80A002)

Our Mother died in early July 2025. We received bills for services and paid the bills. We continue to receive bills form Brookdale Hillsborough even after I called and confirmed that all bills have been paid. If you are looking for a facility that will incorrectly bill you after the death of a loved, this is the place.

We visited 6 other local care centers before selecting Brookdale. It definitely is the best care center in the region.

Beware. The facility is appealing to the eye but the care and financial practices are disturbing. My mom, entered Brookdale 's Memory Care unit in November, 2024. My mom's dementia at times could be considered combative unless proper medication is dispensed. Brookdale could not handle my mom's dementia and she broke her leg at Brookdale while in their care. She left Brookdale for the hospital and rehab for 26 days. Brookdale charged my mom about $4,000 for Personal Care expenses such as bathing, bathroom assistance and dispensing of medication. Brookdale contends that these expenses for the month are fully earned despite not being rendered for almost the entire month. If you do unfortunately engage Brookdale for residency do not agree to automatic ACH payments. They owed my mom several thousand dollars credit for leaving Brookdale and it took 2 months of continuous follow up to get these funds. Thankfully, my mom left Brookdale for another facility that has not only been able to care for her but the costs are not hidden like Brookdale. Word of advice- seek out Assisted Living facilities that do provide proper care and are upfront and reasonable about the costs involved.

Brookdale is business first and you are their cash cow. The cost of my mother residing there just increased to almost $2500.00 additional per month. In total, since my mom moved in there two and a half years ago the total increase is an additional $4,000.00 per month. We will probably be facing another 10 per cent increase again at the end of the year. This is for a woman who walks with the aid of a walker but still takes care of herself , they do take care of ordering and distributing her medication which is reflected in this price. I find this criminal. Who can afford this? It is not a company that cares about you or your loved one. It’s about how much money can they get from you before your loved one passes. They offer no assistance with trying to navigate Medicare or any other type of financial assistance. It’s sad because my mother has been happy living there but unfortunately we will have to start looking for alternative options

I cannot say enough positive things about Brookdale Senior Living in Hillsborough. When my brother and I were looking for a Senior Living for our mother, we toured no less than 5 facilities. Brookdale was hands down our #1 choice. It's now been 18 months since Mom's move in and we couldn't be happier with the level of service and care provided. THANK YOU BROOKDALE for giving our family peace of mind. Mom loves it here and raves about the food, the staff, and is happy, safe and enjoying her 80's!
