8200 dollars out of pocket a month and the are the most medically negligent facility I have EVER seen. My grandfathers blood sugar was over 500 tonight and they were not going to do any type of medical intervention. My grandma mentioned to me that she was worried because she thought it was high but the staff assured her it was fine. I called the nursing staff who agreed that medical intervention should’ve happened, but it just didn’t. They agreed he needed to go to the hospital and then insisted even if they were to offer he could decline I said, but you didn’t offer and if you did, he wouldn’t decline if his blood sugars is that high he knows he needs to get treated you guys just don’t wanna have to deal with it This is one month after they ran out of insulin you got that right they ran out of insulin and instead of informing me or going to a different source, they didn’t administer any. My grandmother told me about it and that’s the only way I found out and their plan was just to. Sit around and wait to see what his blood sugar got to and take him to the hospital if they needed to. Absolutely not the standard of care. Do not use this place

After visiting several memory care facilities in Ocala and Summerfield we chose Freedom Pointe as the right fit for our mom. We are going on ten days now and through lots of communication, open door policy and administrations assistance we are moving in the right direction to find what works for mom and what her daily life will look like. The staff that works directly with mom, although there are many and I am still learning their names, have all been open to helping us acclimate during this vital and very emotional time for our family. In conclusion we stand behind our decision and can say with confidence so far so good.

I have to agree with the reviews here. This facility provides a lot of cognitive stimulation and that is a plus. However, the Medical/Nursing care at Freedom Pointe Place is beyond sub par. The Wellness Director Liz provided me with a lot of lip service, but zero quality care for my Aunt. Within 8 months of her admission, She was treated for skin lesions with cryotherapy multiple times by a Dermatologist they contracted with, without my consent (I am the POA and Health Care Surrogate). A very bad UTI my Aunt had was overlooked, even though she had a major change in behavior ( no one noticed it). She had a very serious upper respiratory infection that required antibiotics, steroids and nebulizers, yet no Nurse or Staff member picked up on this. I was the one to notice and report that she was pale and weak. The final straw was when I asked a Nurse to check on my Aunt, because her ankles were swollen and she told me that she was feeling weak. A Nurse promised me an assessment and a call back, yet I never received one. 3 days later the same Nurse called to tell me that my Aunt was being sent to the ER in respiratory distress. She ended up in fluid overload and on oxygen, then was transferred from The Villages ER to a more acute care hospital. Considering the very high price point, the Staff and Nurses need a lot of education in terms of what to watch for in the elderly and when and how to act. I understand that this is not a skilled facility, however the basics of UTI symptoms in the elderly and respiratory compromise in the elderly should be taught and acted upon and they need to know when to call their House NP or 911!

We paid a very large entry fee for Freedom Pointe under the expectation that this is premium facility for our mother. What a disappointment - not only is it not premium care, it is sub-standard! After three trips to the ER in four days, they are STILL not giving her prescribed medication for her infections. And we cannot get a hold of anybody willing to answer our questions let alone take responsibility for administering her meds or oversee even minimal care. It really feels as though they are understaffed with unqualified people. We paid top dollar for our mother to be neglected - it is maddening.

My husband has been a resident in memory care for about a month. They are the best. Very conscientious with what's going on with the residents. They keep the residents entertained with the appropriate events according to their cognitive abilities. The staff is involved with the residents during activities and not on their cell phones. The environment is fresh, clean and pleasant. Tonya and her staff are dedicated to keeping their residents happy and engaged in their next chapter of life.
