We chose Brookdale Stanwood for my mother. David was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and earned our trust. It is in a perfect location and is a wonderful property!

Brookdale is not a place for anyone who needs assistance beyond meals in the dining room. My mother was unable to leave her room for 3 days. She called for meal delivery to her room. The meals were delivered and stacked on the table, left untouched, for 3 days. When I arrived mom was unable to get out of bed. The nurse was unable to do well checks because the contract didn't include that service. Brookdale was unavailable to write a new contract for increased services. This was the last straw, there were many. I took my mother to my house for her health and well-being and there wasn't anyone at the front desk or any staff to be found to let them know mom was not going to be living there anymore. No one called to check on her. Housekeeping is charged every month, whether there is a housekeeper on staff or not, most often not. It took 4 months to get the bill right when she moved in. I went and sat in the accounting department's office until I witnessed the auto withdrawal removed from their accounting system so I didn't have to deal with unauthorized withdrawals. They don't deserve even one star.

1/5 review. Maybe 3/5 if my grandma actually got the care she needs. We pay good money for her to be taken care of but the lack of staff care almost makes me sick. The amount of overwhelmed workers there is causing a lack of care that she deeply needs. If this is just my grandma I can't imagine what the rest of the elderly people have to go through on a daily basis.

My mom lived here for about 6 months under a different owner and it was great, so we weren't worried about her moving her back to live there. Brookdale management is terrible. There was little to no assisting, even though it's called assisted living. The food is absolute garbage, equal to or worse than hospital food- "fresh" fruit is a cup of canned fruit, grilled cheese is cheap fake cheese on cheap white bread, everything highly processed and unhealthy. Even worse, the dining room smells like a dirty restaurant and the (formerly) white kitchen door is black and dirty where it gets pushed open, so it is obviously never washed. The wait staff is very sweet and kind, the one brought spot in the dining situation. The cook is a great guy and a great cook but Brookdale gives him little to work with. When we moved mom out, there was nobody around to check her out so my sister eventually went around the desk and signed her out. Nobody ever called to check if we actually had her with us, or to ask if she would be back. Stay far, far away from this place unless you are able for independent living.

I’ve been living here for two years in August. I have a super corner room with lots of windows and light. I look out onto a green belt of trees, there is a small balcony. The staff is super, very knowledgeable, friendly and caring. I feel confident and safe here. The food is very good and our chefs are creative with our meals. The dining and kitchen staff are great. We have very creative activities all through out the year. We have a library with lots of books, fiction and non-fiction and fireplace to relax in front of.
