My mother-in-law lived at Brookdale for 7 years and died at 101; the first few years living independently and then transferring to the memory care unit. We can’t thank the management and staff enough for their good care of her.

My mom was a resident for about eighteen months before she died recently at the age of 98. It was the best decision my family and I made to have mom living at Brookdale. While she always expressed her desire to "go home", in the next breath she would say, "but they are really good to me here." The nursing staff are wonderful, the maintenance staff is the best. We made a very good choice in retirement homes.

Need someone to answer the phones at nights through the week and all days and nights on Saturdays and Sundays because you can ring the phone 15 to 20 times and Never get an answer!!! Also the aides and med techs who sit in the nurses' office talking and laughing could be going around checking on residents in their apartments to make sure they have Not fallen and are Not sick!!! These are times when they are Not on break!!!

Crystal Mace is an amazing asset to Brookdale Staunton. Her compassion for serving seniors is remarkable! She genuinely cares when it comes to helping families when looking for senior living.

Unacceptable!!!! As with other reviews I have read. My mother was accepted for a prove that then jumped even higher once she was there. The memory care side has been very disappointing. Staff sit in their office most of the time on their phones not even interacting with the patients. The rooms are not regularly cleaned ( floors almost never mopped. Your shoes stick to them) Patients briefs might be changed but patients are not cleaned properly when done. My mother was covered in stool but her brief was clean! My mother was left alone in the hallway while she was sick and showing signs of change in mental status after she collapsed and was caught by an employee. Was visiting today and floors were still dirty with food everywhere. Worst of all a patient was on the floor for over an hour eating crumbs and dirt off the floor! This patient was in the office for not even two feet from the caregivers that were on their phones just sitting there. I was there for over and hour and not one person left that office to help, support, care for or interact with any patient!!!
