I would recommend Brookstone to any family or individual seeking a safe residential community sensitive to the needs of an elderly person experiencing the changes they are confronted towards their latter years of life. Some are at the beginning of those changes and some are at other stages of those changes. From what I saw and experienced with my mother, Brookstone appears to be very competent, and even effective, at managing those changes, along with working with the families of those going through those changes. I would highly recommend this facility to anybody seeking assistance with the care of their elderly loved one.

Our family is grateful for the level of care and kindness our loved one receives at Brookestone. The staff is kind and respectful and most importantly responsive when concerns arise. The facility is beautiful and the residents apartments are so comfortable and warm. Brookestone offers a space that feels as close to home as we could hope for.

Brand new facilities on a beautiful campus in the best neighborhood in Kearney certainly led us to believe that our dear Aunt was going to be well cared for. We could not have been more wrong. Brookestone Correctional Facilities would be a more fitting name. Certainly the food is better in prison-as she’s now been fed uncooked cream of wheat for three breakfasts in a row. She is not allowed to breakfast in her room (on food our family brings her because of how unpalatable the meals are), facility rules and all. To visit your loved one, you must make an appointment-and don’t even think of making it less than two hours in advance or you’ll be met with a rude and snippy women on the other line. No spontaneous visits for these inmates er residents. Children under 12 are not permitted to see their loved ones, so plan on devastated children when you tell them they can’t hug their aunt because of facility rules. Outings to say, Dairy Queen or a birthday party, must first be requested and a form filled out and permission granted DAYS in advance. Again, no last minute trips to the store. Our elderly loved ones certainly don’t need to be doing frivolous things like going shopping or out for tacos, do they? Did I mention that the food is inedible? The staff seems to be pleasant to the residents and there’s been no concern about rude nurses or poor health care. The facilities also seem to be very clean….but if you enjoy spending time with your loved one, or they enjoy good food, I’d recommend quite literally every other facility in town, Buffalo County Jail included.
