Callaway Gardens Alzheimers Special Care Center

Callaway Memory Care was home for both my mom and dad for the past four years. They have both since passed, but each of them wanted to return “home” from the hospital to Callaway so they could spend their final days surrounded by family. That alone says so much about the comfort and trust they felt there. The nursing and attendant staff were consistently exceptional. There was very little turnover, and as my parents’ needs increased, the team cared for them with dignity, compassion, and the kind of tenderness you hope someone would show their own parents. My father especially loved his nurses and even had a “birthday buddy” he considered family. I was told his final words were a sincere “thank you” to the young women caring for him in hospice — a testament to the respect and connection he felt. We went through hospice care at Callaway, and my family and I were deeply impressed. Staff checked on my dad more than hourly, talking with him, comforting him, and providing the delicate care he needed. Four years ago, we were in a desperate situation after another facility told us my parents were no longer welcome. Callaway stepped in and promised this could be their home until their “last time.” They kept that promise. Because of them, both my mom and dad were able to spend the end of their lives close to family and under the best care we could have hoped for. The staff is remarkable. Some have been here for many many years, which is saying quite a bit. They care for the residents and it shows. It is also very clean. My mother who is 97 yrs has received excellent care. I am so happy my mom is here for her final years. Calloway is a blessing to this community.
