Calyx Living of Fuquay-Varina

Beware of predatory practices! We gave this facility $3,500 in good faith that we would be placing our family member. For 2 weeks were were unable to get a contract that we could sign, because information requested was never provided. We felt that if they couldn't respond in a timely manner that it wasn't the right place to send our family member, and we communicated our intent with them. Even though they are unable to provided us any signed contract or statement on what they call the "non refundable $3,500", they felt like it was appropriate to keep the savings of a 96 year old great grandmother with dementia. I find this appalling! It's hard to believe that any reputable business that is suppose to help people would condone this approach. Tread carefully with this organization. Do yourself a favor and look at a Cadence facility. They were outstanding to work with. Also find and review the DHHS report regarding the death that happened at Calyx in early 2025. Seems it was a few days before they even knew the resident was deceased. It's all noted in their report. If Calyx is willing to provide the document that I supposedly signed I would consider removing this review. Until then I will need to pursue legal action. Update : 11/15/2025 I have requested information on your cancellation policy and the document you said you provided to me, a copy of the contract that you said I signed stating I understood the policy, a contract that you said I signed associated with the monthly charges, and documentation where you said I requested a different room. I requested this information over 2 weeks ago. You responded stating that you would get back to me. I have received no updates. Please advise.

My family and I were driving around on a weekend, looking at assisted living communities when we came up upon Calyx. The outside and grounds were so beautiful that we decided to go inside. We didn't realize tours aren't usually scheduled on weekends and had no expectation of one, but the executive Director happened to be on site, welcomed us in, and offered a thoughtful walk-through. That leadership presence spoke volumes. Inside, the common areas were clean and lively; the team felt upbeat, joked, easily with one another, and seemed genuinely engaged with residence. We laugh, feeling both reassured and excited about what life here could look like for our family member.

I recently visited my grandma at Calyx Living of Fuquay-Varina for Halloween, and it was such a wonderful experience! The staff went all out with decorations, costumes, and activities it really made the day festive and special for the residents. My grandma had a big smile the whole time, and it was clear how much the team cares about making the holidays fun and meaningful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and everyone seemed genuinely happy to be part of the celebration. Thank you to the Calyx team for creating such a joyful environment it means so much to families like ours! Thanks for a great day!

I encourage anyone considering this terrible place to research the death in early 2025 on the DHHS website. Calyx was given an A1 violation, which is the highest violation possible. This poor man was suffocated, and not found for over 8 hours. Do no leave your loved one in this place.

My dear mother has been at Calyx now for about about two weeks. our experience there has been wonderful. Marcus was outstanding, and even helped out as we were moving in with some of the heavier items. Cassie has been very helpful as well. And cannot say enough about Marie and how she engages the residence in all kinds of activities. My mother has participated in exercise classes as well as the daily baking sessions. My mother has already made some nice friends and has enjoyed meal conversations with other residents. One thing I have noticed is that many of the staff members are willing to wear different hats and do different things based on what is needed by the residents. Cannot say enough good things about Calyx and highly recommend it.
