I really really love living here, however I do not like the way it’s ran, we used to have enough caregivers but now the med techs are told they just pass meds and there is only 1 caregiver sometimes we have 2 and they are being ran thin, we pay thousands of dollars to live here and we are not getting food or services to represent that. We also do not have a laundry lady anymore and are laundry is being lost all the time.

The staff at Canyon Winds is very nice and very helpful. The directors have been very knowledgeable and helpful with all details of my Aunts residence. The 2 Head care givers Priscilla and Clara are extremely knowledgeable and professional and are always available for any concerns. My main concern is that the Head Nurse position continues to be a rotation position after a few months which leads to inconsistent attention to the residents care. As far as hygiene for the residents at meal times the hand towels are rarely warmed and used which is needed due to some residents using their hands to eat. My last concern deals with the annual rent increase from 2 to 5 percent when the care and meals don't improve. As far as the maintenance and cleanliness this facility is far beyond other places I've visited.

Run! If you care at all for your loved one do not trust these people to watch over them. On the memory care side it is horrible. The care givers that actually care for residents like humans and with kindness are very few and far between. I suggest you visit doing a meal on a weekend and just listen do how they talk about caring for the residents. There is close to no communication from the staff if there is a fall or illness with your loved one. They won’t even call you when they pass. The staff is completely incompetent and the director is the worst one of all. The lack of empathy all around is astonishing. After your loved one passes be ready for Dasha to track you down that day to talk about the bill that will be due. If you have no choice but to place your loved one here DO NOT send them with ANYTHING of value. It will go missing and the director will push the blame on anyone but her “caring staff” and nothing will be done. It is no wonder why they can’t keep a nurse on staff for more than a few months. If you’ve made it this far in my review you are having doubt about this place. Please trust your instinct and do not make the same mistake I did by trusting this place to care for your loved ones.

I have been impressed and extremely satisfied with my husband's care at Canyon Winds Memory Care. The staff cares for my husband as if he were a family member. They are attentive to his every need and make my time with him much better than I ever expected. When I arrive the front desk ladies always greet me with a smile and are always available to let me in to his unit frequently stopping what they are doing to help me. His room is well cared for, his clothes are clean and hung back up in his closet so that he can find them. His aids speak to him clearly and sweetly often with a teasing tone in their voices. They are kind and see that he is involved in activities, gets to meals on time and just generally treats him with respect, care and consideration. Placing my husband in memory care was one of the most difficult things I have ever done. If we need a bit extra attention I can count on everyone to lend a hand even when they are busy. The entire staff has made this experience much less emotional for me, which I never expected would happen. I looked at many care facilities but Canyon Winds was far and away the best decision I could have made for my husband.
