We tried to get my Mother in Law out of this nursing home to bring her back to Arkansas she had no one in Michigan to look after her anymore or to see to it that the nursing home was doing what they are suppost to do.We tried to work with the caring hearts nursing home and let them know we just became her Guardians and we were investigating all of moms commitments. We called the nursing home on 24 of February to let them know we would be there Sunday to get her. They called us back and basically told us that we should call them before we come there because we might be shocked about being able to pick her up with a balance owed, and threaten to call pace, and other places to report us. We didn’t understand why all we were doing is coming to get her. We waited until Monday and called pace and social security to confirm that it was ok to get her. I text the nursing home to let them know we were coming. We arrived at the caring hearts home and attempted to get my mother in law ready to leave and they told us we needed to sign forms to release her. The lady who owned the nursing home gave them to us, I looked over it and I said I’m not signing this form for her payment I am not responsible for it. She proceeded to tell me that they can’t sue my mother in law. We sat for 3 hours with her trying to get us to sign the papers with stipulations of federal law rates on the form not specified so it could have been 70% of what her bill would have been. I finally called an attorney in Michigan and he said you don’t have to sign anything to take here out of the nursing home.I then demanded that they give her clothes and give her to us so we can take her home. It really upset her that’s suppost to be a happy time. Watch what you sign because you don’t have too. We have no complaints about the time she stayed there it’s just the way they handled her exit.
