CARLTON SENIOR LIVING ORANGEVALE

My father lived at home for 94 years, but after a brief illness, he was hospitalized. When the hospital planned to discharge him, we realized he wasn't ready to go home alone and would need support to regain his strength. We toured Carlton Senior Living and were impressed with the facility. However, after less than three weeks, we discovered it wasn’t suitable for him and moved him out. While the staff were friendly, the place was clean, the food was good, and the grounds were pleasant, it was not a fit for someone like my father that needed more assistance. Knowing what I do now, the place is ideal for those who want to avoid housework, engage in activities, and not cook. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the right fit for someone needing assistance with basic tasks like using the bathroom or showering. My dad required more help, which led to significant additional costs—almost doubling the original quote. The staff didn’t respond quickly enough when he needed assistance. On one occasion, he needed assistance and couldn't wait any longer for help. He tried to get up by himself and fell, hitting his head and requiring paramedics. I also requested multiple times that his night lamp be connected to the Alexa outlet for voice control, but that never happened. He was frustrated with the lack of assistance, in a timely manner, so we looked for alternatives. After moving him out, I was shocked to receive a bill for over $10,000 more than expected. This added to the emotional stress I was already experiencing. After pointing the error out, the bill was corrected but I should not have had to do their accountants job. We eventually moved my father to a board-and-care residential facility, which is providing the care he truly needs, and I wish we had made that choice from the beginning.

My mom moved into the Oak Ave. Carlton Memory Care wing in Aug 2022 and she passed away one year ago today peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by the campus's majestic oak trees and under the compassionate care of the entire Carlton organization. Special props to MC Unit chief Trudy and her kind, friendly & very professional associates like Brinda, Rebecca and many others who helped make Cathy's last year a happy enjoyable one.

Having worked in the senior care industry for over 25 years, I've seen my fair share of assisted living facilities. I want to share my personal experience with the exceptional care and warmth provided at Carlton Senior Living in Orangevale to my mother. Two years ago, when my mother suffered a stroke, I made the decision to move her to Carlton, and I have never looked back since. The love and attention she received from the care partners, medication techs, other staff and leadership team far exceeded my expectations. Even during her hospital stays, the staff eagerly awaited her return, showing just how much she meant to them. The sense of community that my mother found at Carlton warmed my heart. She made friends and truly felt at home, which brought her immeasurable joy. I wholeheartedly recommend this community to anyone seeking a nurturing environment for their elderly loved ones. Even during her final days, my mother spoke fondly of returning to Carlton, where she cherished the care, companionship, and delicious meals prepared by Chef Robert. The 10 pounds she gained from those delightful desserts was a testament to the joy she found in every aspect of life at Carlton. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for the happiness and peace of mind Carlton brought to my mother's life, and by extension, mine. Moved my dad with Lewy Body Dementia into this facility after the last place he was at wasn’t working out. He passed away last week while living at Carlton and I cannot express how kind, compassionate and loving they were to my dad and my family. They took great care of him while he was alive, and when the time came they bent over backwards to make sure we could be by his side the whole time. They brought us water and lemonade, blankets in the middle of the night, and checked on him and us constantly. Thank you Trudy and Carlton staff from the bottom of our hearts.

I wanted to share how much Carlton Senior Living in Orangevale has meant to me. My wife Judy has been a resident in Memory Care for a year and a half, and the care and love they have provided her is nothing short of amazing! The staff, led by Trudy the director of memory care, is truly professional and very caring. They absolutely know how to care for residents with these very special needs. I cannot give a higher rating of were to place your loved one!
