The staff have taken such great care of our family member. I would visit several times a week, without notice, and the residents were actively involved in crafts, songs, exercise or meals. There was always a tone of kindness in dealing with the residents. Welcoming always. They were in great communication with me. I would highly recommend this place for the care of anyone's family member.

Mom was in Chapman Place (Memory Care) from May 2020 through December 2021. Since mom was in a wheelchair and our home was a 2 story, we believed it would be best to find a facility. From the time she was there, I contacted the Director on numerous issues I was having on the care provided to my mom. (Note: this was during the pandemic and her primary care was transferred to Chapman because they weren’t able to leave facility. Also, mom was diagnosed with mild dementia but still knew what was going on) It seemed they couldn’t keep Chapman appropriately staffed but that could be the issue in any facility. The food was not good or appealing for mom. I was told that she would be given the option to choose, if she didn’t like what the entree was that day. That didn’t happen. There was even one time they didn’t have enough food to serve the memory care and was told it was due to a different chef that day. There were multiple times where laundry wasn’t done weekly and things went missing. I had to contact the Director to have it done. Mom was constantly cold in her apartment during the winter months. Even though they have their own controls, it is locked and can only be adjusted by certain personnel. Mom is on blood thinners and had to be monitored. It took 6 months before they would work with me to get her back on the dosage she was when she lived with me for 4 years. Then on 2 occasions, mom was almost given the wrong medications. I’m just glad for mom refusing to take them because she didn’t recognize the pills being given to her and she called me where I contacted the Director. I gave Chapman Place her 30 day notice in November to leave by 1/3/2022 to come to SC. She left Chapman on 12/30/21. (We left early because the Covid numbers were rising in Fort Wayne and didn’t want the chance of mom getting it). She donated her large furniture for other residents who may need it but because the large furniture was still there, she will be charged for the 3 days in January (over $450) even though she physically wasn’t there. We were not given the opportunity to give the residents her furniture but was told Chapman would give where it’s needed. We didn’t realized that she’d be charged for days she wasn’t there to be cared for. That is just not good business in my opinion. The only positive thing I will say is that the staff running the activities were good and mom enjoyed them.

Great place for your loved one to live. Nurses, aides, management, etc. care for every single resident in the community. Staff is always there when needed by the resident or family member. Would definitely recommend Chapman Place anytime.:)

My mom is was a resident for about 10 months, she enjoyed her new home. She received wonderful care and had several activities she could participate in daily. The care team was awesome!! so much so I left the restaurant world to be apart of this place and I oversee Dining Services and love it!

We considered Chapman Place memory care for my mom in 2018. She had advanced Lewy body dementia and was fully dependent on others for her daily care. (She went to her heavenly home in October, 2018.) We visited a few times and spoke with the now former marketing director. On a Friday afternoon, With much difficult emotion we met with the director and signed up for mom to move in when a room would be ready within 2 weeks. We paid the first month and a one time community fee. After sleepless nights over the decision we contacted the director by email within a day of signing up and requested a cancellation. We were not ready to move mom out of her home with dad, her primary caregiver. We asked for funds to be returned since we had let them know within 48 hours and the room was not yet ready so they were not losing money with it unoccupied. They held firm to their right to keep all funds. We lost faith in their willingness to consider the client over the money. They went from our first choice to not ever a consideration for mom or dad into the future. Nor would we recommend them to friends or other family. With even a partial refund they could have maintained a good standing with my dad. During a time of heartbreak over mom’s declining condition Chapman Place sorely missed the mark in client care.
