2/24/2021: DESPITE Chosen Vision staff claiming they would help Courtney, they failed her. They sided against her Father when he petitioned for Guardianship in August 2020, claiming that Chosen Vision's care was in her best interest. Just 6 months later, under the guidance of Tina/Janae at Chosen Vision and the Clinton County Court Appointed Guardian, Courtney is now being DISCHARGED from Chosen Vision's care. Is this what you want for YOUR loved one? Chosen Vision and the Clinton County Court System have FAILED a vulnerable Adult. 8/13/20: For Jim Russell, CEO: Is rent paid by SSI *truly* a floating amount depending on what each resident gets each month or are funds being mishandled? Why won't CEICMH or APS do a FULL investigation on your "Christian Values" BUSINESS? In late 2017, it was decided that in order for my Stepdaughter to grow, she needed to be in a home where there was constant supervision and redirect. Her first move was to a group home in Lansing which wasn't a good fit. When my Husband found the Chosen Vision women's home in DeWitt, we were very impressed with the staff and the home itself. My Stepdaughter operates on a significantly higher level than the clients Chosen Vision typically houses (this statement from Tina, House Manager @ Men's House in DeWitt). Most clients are unable to leave the home unsupervised, do not leave to go to work, etc. While my Stepdaughter does function at a higher level, she remains unable to be on her own. My Stepdaughter moved into Chosen Vision in March of 2018 and over the past two(2) years, has seen some growth but this has tapered off given the limited care Chosen Vision is required to give by CEICMH. Also, staffing at Chosen Vision's DeWitt women's location has deteriorated significantly. Goals for my Stepdaughter are put in place yearly, and include teaching her skills that would allow her to move out on her own (though still with elevated level of monitoring). Our Stepdaughter has NOT been been taught to budget her monies, create and follow a grocery list, be aware of her general healthcare as it relates to routine screenings (ie: Pap/HPV/STD screening), laundry, cooking and related clean-up, etc and Chosen Vision IS NOT REQUIRED TO by CEICMH. All Chosen Vision (and facilities like it) has to do is provide a bed and transport for healthcare in an emergency. With the limitations in place by CEICMH, added to a lack of concern for her growth by Chosen Vision staff, my Stepdaughter is being held back at the operating level of the typical clients Chosen Vision houses. My Stepdaughter continues to express her desire to be out on her own and my Husband and I were looking to bring her home where she would have two competent adults available to guide her and hold her accountable every day. Given her +/- 8-year-old mentality, my Stepdaughter is very impulsive and "me!" focused and decided that she wasn't going to be told what to do. Instead of working as an advocate for her GROWTH, the staff at Chosen Vision has encouraged her negative behavior. Since Covid-19 hit, and the State of Michigan started handing out $600/week, my Stepdaughter has been on an unchecked spending spree with NO guidance from Chosen Vision or CEICMH. Again, Chosen Vision is NOT advocating for the benefit of my Stepdaughter, but instead, seems to be viewing her as only the SSI paid income they get from housing her. We believe our Daughter is more, and can BE more, but surrounded by residents who operate at the levels they will never move past, and staff that only offers the minimum CEICMH requires....she will forever be a drain on society. If this is what you want for YOUR loved one, then by all means, pursue Chosen Vision and support their growth. If you believe in YOUR loved one as we believe in ours, then you will file complaints with CEICMH about what little protection they give to the Disabled community and you will NOT look to Chosen Vision as a safe and caring facility they claim to be. Everything that glitters, is not gold and even a pile of dog poop shines for a minute.

I am so happy with this organization. They truly care for the individuals they serve. We looked for a long time for an organization that shared our values, and this was the perfect fit.
