My grandmother recently moved into Oakwell, and the experience has been absolutely wonderful. What truly won us over was the activity coordinator, Jeff. I’ve never seen someone show such genuine love and compassion for every resident—he treats them like they’re part of his own family. He takes the time to personally connect with each individual. The world needs more people like this young man; he has a bright future ahead of him. Thank you, Gemstone.

This place is just like a home. The rooms were a perfect size and the staff were great. If we could’ve afforded private pay forever, we would have stayed. We left simply because we eventually needed Medicaid. But trust if you can afford, this small homey place is perfect for your loved ones.

We went to tour Colonial Gardens on 11/19/22 for the first time. We were very impressed with their safety protocols, the cleanliness of the facility, the private rooms, the amount of staff present, the amenities offered and the “Age in Place”, all inclusive pricing. The only reason I didn’t give a five star review, is because it was our only visit to the facility. However, having seen other facilities that care for family members with memory issues, this facility is by far one of the best based on our first impressions. UPDATE: We have confidently chosen to move our loved one into Colonial Gardens. The facility, staff and management have provided us the comfort and peace of mind that we have made the best possible decision for this next phase of our lives. We have accepted the fact that our family member requires the help from people with the skills and experience we lack. She is sleeping and eating well. This transition is not without an adjustment period for all of us. But with each passing day, it is visible that she is safe, more comfortable and being well cared for by people with combined years of experience in caring for the elderly with dementia.
