COLONIAL OAKS AT CAMPBELL PARK

I am currently a resident of 2 1/2 years at Colonial Oaks on West Campbell in Garland. For many months I have been awakened almost every night by someone knocking on my door. This occurs after 10:00 p.m. and before 6:00 a.m. and more than once a night. This has not been a dream or my imagination as I have kept a record. It has happened with other residents. I have spoken with Directors about this disturbance without any resolutions. My health is suffering from lack of sleep.

We initially had issues with receiving a prorated refund of a "enhanced community fee" upon moving out of this facility. With some assertive measures to connect with the right folks at Colonial Oaks however, this issue was resolved. There was a delay in receiving the refund, which was of a substantial amount (the enhanced community fee was $35k), and this made us quite uneasy. However, Colonial Oaks did reach out to us, and stayed in communication regarding the payout of the refund, and they did refund the prorated amount. I've adjusted this review from my initial low rating due to the communication from Colonial Oaks and that they did provide the refund in the end. Personally I would recommend against the "Enhanced Community Fee" if you are looking at this facility. It offers an overall savings, but in my experience it was difficult in negotiating getting the prorated refund. Regarding staff at this facility, everyone was very kind and helpful. However, for us the overnight care was limited which did not work in our case.

Do not leave your loved one here. They are short staffed and not properly trained or qualified to care for the elderly. Many medicine administrative errors and not responding to call lights and not reporting falls. They stole money from my mom's room and now after she has passed away, will not refund the money that was paid in advance for her care after we were told we would receive it. Upper management will not return our calls. High turnover rate at the Campbell location in garland. I only give it 1 star because of Andrew the Maintenence guy who loved my mother and looked out for her, she did have a couple care givers that did care and helped me with her. But this facility is poorly run and not safe.

I searched and visited senior living homes for a couple months and so happy that I found Colonial Oaks Campbell Park! I was looking for a place where my Mom would be motivated to socialize more and this is the place! Mom is very very happy now! We enjoyed the family Valentine Brunch! She enjoys many of the weekly activities, loves the food and she’s thrilled to have meal options. (Thanks Chef Carl!) Stephanie at Colonial Oaks was sooo helpful in making this happen for our family! The caregivers are extremely attentive and treat residents with the utmost respect. The rooms are cleaned regularly and sheets are changed weekly. (These are things that did not happen at her last place.) The common areas and grounds are beautiful, mom also loves sitting outdoors in the atrium on nice days. Tyler, the Executive Director is very attentive to the residents and responsive to our needs and questions. Highly recommend this Colonial Oaks for your loved one!!

Colonial Oaks has been a community that I have visited and done activities in for the past 2 years. It’s very nice and the residents are engaged in regular activities. The leadership here is also fantastic at putting the resident first. If you’re looking for a place that allows your loved one to age in place, this is it!
