My mother spent the last 3 1/2 years of her life at Country Meadows in Frederick. They were beautiful years, full of activities and new friendships, with residents and staff. She even wrote stories from her life in a writing class that I was able to print in book form for our whole family. The last few months, and especially weeks were physically painful for her, but the staff was there for her every day, with physical and emotional support., even while she was dying. Every person on her care team was an angel, doing God's work. I will be forever grateful.

Country Meadows has been an outstanding partner to Assisting Hands Homecare ! Their team is incredibly welcoming and easy to work with, and we truly value the collaboration we’ve built. Recently, we shared a mutual client, and Sara S. went above and beyond to coordinate care seamlessly between both teams—her support was invaluable and ensured the client received exceptional care. We also appreciate their staff joining us for the Grand Re-Opening of our new office—it meant so much to have them celebrate with us. Thank you, Country Meadows, for your continued support and dedication to quality senior care. We look forward to working together for many more successful collaborations!

Unfortunately this beautiful facility has a dark side that is hidden very well. Let us start off with their medication technicians - “med techs” are barely trained girls/women who train for a few weeks for the motivation of a pay increase and are given keys to all your family’s medications. Why is this barely trained individual handling narcotics and controlled substances? They are not qualified or certified and it’s scary. This is alarming. The “Personal Care Assistants” for assisted living are two for 20 patients. That means your precious family member you pay 10k that means the world to you, is getting “quick fast treatment” because the poor worker has to put the bed 9 other residents, take out their trash, shower them , then take the other 8 others to the bathroom and change their depends every few hours, answer call lights at a fast speed, (etc). The pca’s won’t tell you, but some of them love when residents refuse showers because that means they have one less thing to do. They document “refused” and call it a day. Some residents don’t shower for so long, their genitalia grew black mildew. This I saw. The real scary thing, is in case of any health emergency, the nurses are the one assessing your family member. Legally, there should never be a nurse assessing your family member when there is an emergency. Why do they not staff at least one doctor or PA for the whole facility? The nurses are seen as gods because when everyone is gone at evening hours, they run the show and they are the ones calling the shots if there was a health emergency. LPN nurses and RNs. I knew of a nurse who saw a resident fall , had a horrible bleeding and she took a photo of it and laughed about it later. There is also only one nurse to every floor (not including independent living). This place is horribly ran but unfortunately, all of this stuff is hidden beneath its beautiful front. Is it cleaned well? Yes. Are the managers friendly , welcoming and sweet? Yes. Is the kitchen ran great? Yes. But the care is absolutely subpar. To add… sometimes on a floor, a very physically handicapped patient will be added to the floor, for example a 300 pound man who can not walk. And then you have an 115 pound PCA trying to roll him over to clean him up a fecal mess, and if you can’t find someone to help you as a PCA? Good luck. If you ask a nurse, they won’t help. I knew of a person who was a 5 person assist. Completely and utterly absurd. “Just use a lift machine” you might say- ha, it was broken and the patient exceeded the weight limit. There was one pregnant PCA here who ended up giving birth prematurely due to changing a patient who injured her as his weight was astronomical . Why should you care you ask? This kind of injustice for the workers cause them to care less when it comes to your family members as it creates stress, physical pain and job dissatisfaction. If the country meadows owner reads this, please understand I do not state these things to hurt you or your business, you have great potential to fix your facility to the best of the best if you just magnify on these issues . Hire real medication technicians, have more PCAS to a floor, have a limit on what kind of residents you let in so you don’t injure your young women workers with lack of safety equipment, try experimenting with the possibility of hiring physicians assistants instead of having nurses run a facility. Older citizens are prone to falls, strokes, heart attacks, why are you leaving these serious concerns in the hands of nurses? I wish your company well and hope to see it prosperous in the future. Thank you for reading , Take care.

The last thing my dad wanted was to “be put into an old folk’s home”, but his dementia got to the point that he needed more assistance than I could provide myself. After a year and a half, I’m so glad I chose Country Meadows. Dad settled in after a few months and now enjoys his daily activities and keeps busy and active. I visit regularly and we can still go on weekly outings. The staff is so friendly and professional. I know what dad is up to, proactively made aware of any concerns, and can approach them with anything I see. I am grateful that Dad is not just safe and getting meds and meals on time, but also in a place where he’s treated like the precious person he is. Thank you! 🙏

My parents entered Country Meadows about 10 years ago. My Mom quickly went to the memory unit from independent living. My Dad was in independent living until he needed assisted living and then the memory unity. While both are gone now, CM treated them with such dignity and respect. Everyone knew them and knew their status. CM was a god-send for the family and I was able to sleep at night knowing they were well taken care of.
