After having helped my Aunt find independent living for herself and her beloved cat, I have only positive things to say about Courtyard at Mt. Tabor in Portland. Erin, Riley and Austin have gone beyond the norm to insure success for the difficult move from my Aunt’s home of 22+ years to her new home at Courtyard. They have worked with me from out of state , with our realtor dream team from Seniors on the Move, to coming up with creative ways to transition into her current home there. I am impressed with their speed of response, attention to detail and compassion for all the emotions for all parties involved…not just the future resident. Hats off to the afore mentioned trio and the front desk who transferred all my calls in search of answers!

My mom moved in to Assisted Living during the holidays in December. It was a difficult decision to move her during the holidays, but it was driven by need for care. My mom, sisters and I were so thankful for the warm and caring staff that showered my mom with attention and excellent care right from the start. My mom was reluctant to move, but after a few short weeks she was feeling so much better (shout out to great med management!). Mom is much more social, happier and actually has more stamina because she’s finally getting the proper care she needed. Mom LOVES the staff and my sisters and I are grateful that the time we get to spend with her is more pleasant. The activity coordinator even got my mom to play Texas Hold ‘Em, she’s loving the activities!

This facility not only provides care but provides activities that continues to stimulate the mind. They treat the residents well as if they were family. This is not easily done as there are a large group of people There are lots of activies available and residents are encouraged to join. One of the activity directors is very good at arranging this is Graham Woods keeping this fresch and works with staff to keep it fresh. Thanks

My mom moved into Courtyard last April and everything about this place is wonderful. It was a very tough transition from her home of 70 years to an apartment. From the tour in March until now everything about this place has been wonderful. The move-in went smoothly. A staff member gave me the name of a moving company that did an excellent job. Maintenance staff helped with hanging large pictures, getting the TV and landline hooked up. Graham, a wonderful staff member, helped to get mom a garden plot and even got her a Trailblazer flag to put in it. When we moved in there was a Trailblazer mug and two plants waiting for her on the kitchen counter. Every staff member is kind, compassionate, a good listener, understanding, and they always recognize me when I visit! Mom is happy, has made several friends, and goes to Balance class 3 times a week. She goes to a group that sings each week and looks forward to the entertainment each Friday. There are MANY varied activities here! Mom walks the paths outside - shaded, slight inclines for exercise - and walks the many hallways inside on hot (and now cool and rainy) days. The food is good and each day there is a special - a good variety. Much to do, wonderful people (staff and residents), clean and well-kept. Highly recommended!! It is now January and I want to add to how wonderful Courtyard is. My mother woke up early in the morning with the vomiting and diarrhea illness and needed help getting cleaned up. She pulled the cord in the bathroom and help was there in a few minutes. The first person was male and through the door mom warned him. He went to get a female. The person who came that early in the morning is part of the maintenance crew - Kristie Haines - and she was wonderful. Mom felt her calm compassion and love as Kristie helped her into the shower to get clean. Kristie brought her clean pajamas and got mom back into bed. She provided the calm and love that mom needed at that time. The staff here care for everyone like family.

I had been looking at many different places for my mom who suffers from Alzheimer's. What stood out to me about Courtyard was Riley, who was so patient, intelligent, and kind -- and she accommodated all the times we wanted to tour different parts of the facility and sometimes with different members of the family. I talked with a couple of the residents there (I believe they were in assisted living) who said they were happy. The apartments in independent and assisted living were also really nice, and compared to some of the other facilities in the area I felt like the price was right. The facility is also a good size -- not super small, but also not gigantic, which I really liked. My mom did not end up moving in there just yet so I can't speak to what her experience of living there would be like, but I really enjoyed the staff and so much that I saw about the facility. Thank you again to the staff that went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and at ease about potentially moving my mom into care, as well as helping us find the most appropriate solution for her.
