My mother lived in Covenant Woods' memory care for 3.5 years until her passing. She was loved and well provided for. The staff was excellent, attentive, helpful, and well cared for. The administration was wonderful to work with and truly cares for their residents and employees. Living out of town, it was a relief knowing she was in such a wonderful place with wonderful people! Highly recommended!

Covenant Woods is the worst decision we made for my Poppy. They claim they are a memory care facility, but do not want to deal with actual Alzheimers/Dementia patients unless they are wheelchair bound/ unable to move. They don’t want patients who may have classic Alzheimers symptoms such as aggression or wandering. If they do, they act like the person is an issue and asks you to hire a sitter on top of the $5000 monthly fee. Also, they evaluate the person to see if they are a good fit prior to moving in... we told them that he wanders, has mood swings, and cant communicate because of Aphasia. They said he was a great fit. He was kicked out because he couldnt be “re-directed” Do they not understand what Aphasia is?? In the Month and a half he was there, he was sent to the geriatric psyche unit, and when he returned to covenant started to faint and develop a cough which the owner tried to brush off. It turns out he had developed pneumonia and sepsis. His health has done nothing but decline in the month and a half he was there & he was treated like a burden the entire time. We were constantly receiving calls complaing about his classic Alzheimers symptoms. This place is a joke. Also, they hire 16/17 year olds to watch these residents that need professionals who understand how dementia/Alzheimers patients can be. This place is a JOKE!

Extremely unhappy with the experience my dad had at Covenant Woods. They were informed about all of my dad”s dementia related behaviors up front when they came to our house to assess him to see if he would be a good “fit” for their facility. Then after being there for only 3 weeks, they sent him out to a Geri-psych hospital, where he stayed for almost 3 weeks to get his meds “adjusted”. Only 2 days after my dads return to Covenant woods, we were told he couldn’t be easily “redirected” and had 30 days to leave. He had become even more confused than ever and was experiencing physical symptoms such as diarrhea, drooling,, coughing, and he even collapsed a couple of times while walking. They didn’t deem these symptoms serious enough to send him to the hospital. When I went up to check on him, it was completely clear something was way off with his health, so I had him sent to the hospital where he was diagnosed with septic bilateral pneumonia and is now in the ICU. I would definitely NOT recommend this facility to anyone!

Christian staff, compassionate, caring, loving. Treat your loved one like it was their mom or dad. There is not a better facility in the Birmingham area. Fed well, kept clean, interact with each patient. My dad has been there two years, not the first problem. Never smelled any type of odor, never seen any thing out of the ordinary, always courteous, friendly, willing to discuss anything with you about your loved one. This is far above a "nursing home", this is their new home.

Don't send your loved ones here. They say the are Dementia trained.but actually they just want to get you parents in and then they send them to the geriatric unit at the hospital every chance they can. Please don't send them here. They will lie to you from the start.
