My sister has lived at Spring Hollow for the past 4 years. We have been very happy with the care she has received there. The staff is always willing to help and it is evident that they really care for her. I appreciate that it is not a very large facility where my sister could be just another number.

My sister has been a resident at Spring Hollow for four years and we have been very pleased with her care. Everyone is kind and respectful to her. They deal with her Alzheimer's, her diabetes, and all the other issues that come up. Our family is grateful that we found such a wonderful place for her.

The staff there is incredible. The changes they are making are noticeable, the residents are always smiling, and taken care of with love! I would recommend this facility to anyone

I’ve been coming to spring hollow for several years now. We organized, clean, and professional. Staff care for residents with patients and warmth. Memory care staff do a great job calming and staying with routines for patients. Rooms are clean. Food is appetizing. The facility has improved greatly with new management and new staff.

PART II 7) Food. Mom eats differently from most of the other residents so I can only comment generally on the food. She is no longer able to use flatware and so requires finger foods. I have observed however that the food that is served matches the weekly posted menus only about half of the time. And there is rarely any fresh food. "Seasonal fruit" almost always means applesauce or canned fruit cocktail (though this has changed somewhat to include grapes since Mom cannot eat the other two). The meat is generally over cooked and hard to chew for many of the residents so a lot is wasted. This may be due partially to the fact that the food is being cooked in a different building than most of the food is prepped in due to a broken oven in the main facility (go figure?). 8) Convenience. Getting admittance to the locked-down facility is hit and miss, depending on where the aide is at the moment you ring the doorbell. The bell cannot be heard in the residents' rooms and if the aide does hear it and is transferring or toileting someone, they cannot immediately come open the door. I have many times waited 20 minutes in the cold to be let in. This is solved by some facilities by having a receptionist sitting at a desk near the door but I think it could be at least somewhat improved by having the doorbell chime transmitted to the aide's phone as a notification. Even better if the aide could speak to the person at the door and let them know that help is on the way. In a day of smart doorbells, this doesn't seem like a big ask. 9) Laundry. I have only had the aides do Mom's laundry three times. Once they lost a shirt. Once they washed a new magenta shirt with white linens in hot water and the whites all turned pink. Once they washed and dried a velour blanket on high heat and ruined the blanket. Since then I have taken all the laundry home and washed it myself since they do not allow personal use of their laundry facilities. Since I am a nurse and with Mom most of the time, I can personally make up for most of these deficits. I have never experienced another Assisted Living Facility so I have nothing to compare this one to but I would not give it excellent marks. We stay here because it is very convenient to home and because I think it can get better. Mom was in a Skilled Nursing Facility before coming here and I had none of the complaints I have listed above but we were only there two and half weeks and SNFs are much more regulated and tightly run than ALFs. However, they are not as personally accommodating and comfortable (no personal furnishings). We will continue here for now and see how things go. *As an aside, I find it very unethical that some of the 5 star reviews here are from staff, including Melissa herself, Yamileth, who is the caregiver coordinator, and Kaylee, who is the cook. The staff also tells me that they are pressured to write these reviews.
