Tired Staff

May 2021

The facilities provide so much good for the residents that live there. Unfortunately it is run so poorly. They run multiple programs on their campus and in the community in unmarked houses. Most programs are understaffed often. Devereux leadership then gets to choose what programs stay most understaffed while they "reallocate" staff around town. This leads to extremely high turnover in staff. They hold job fairs often to appeal to college students who are willing to work in poor conditions in exchange for experience in the behavioral health field. If they had proper leadership, and the programs had the proper support, it would be able to offer so much more security and enrichment for the residents.

Devereux has saved our son's life. Everyone but his pastor had given up on him before we sent him there, he was completely out of control behaviorally with no willingness to change. Devereux put him back on track, not just to survive, but to thrive. Watching him transform under their care and support, under the rigor of their program, has been breathtaking. No medication, by the way. I will never be able to overstate my gratitude for what the team at Devereux has done for our son and our family.

I lived in this group home back in the late 90's to the early 2000 and when I first went to them I was on the verge of one of those kids who would spend his life I prison because of how violent I was when I first moved there I was such a horrible kid because I was traumatized from my last group home hillsides in Pasadena California and within four years they completely changed me by the time I got out of that place I knew how to do my bills I know how to survive on my own and I was able to take care of myself without being in the system anymore and if it wasn't for them I'd be in prison right now so I like Devereux though the Devereux I lived at closed down because it was for any age just as long as you were diagnosed as being special there were elderly people living there there were adults living there there were teenagers live in their kids living there but I don't think I've ever seen any infants living there my point is it was a really good place
