I had the pleasure of working with Amy Bird, LMSW, Social Worker at Discovery Village Southlake, during a patient transfer. I am a Patient Liaison with Homage Hospice, and Amy was absolutely outstanding throughout the entire process. She was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and efficient, providing all required documentation quickly and making sure I had everything I needed without delay. She was very friendly, welcomed questions, and consistently followed up with me regarding transportation and every detail in between. Her communication and attention to detail truly made the process so much easier and stress-free. I genuinely hope to work with Amy again. Her professionalism, friendliness, and expertise reflect the high level of talent at Discovery Village Southlake. Based on this experience, I would highly recommend Discovery Village Southlake because they clearly hire exceptional professionals like Amy.

Both my mom and dad were in assisted living in 2010-ish and when my dad died, we had no choice but to move her to a locked-up mental ward or move her to another center. They confiscated her call-for-help-because-I-can’t-get-up pendant and she fell on concrete floor to break her hip specifically because of this — she couldn’t get any help to the toilet via push-button one night (to which they immediately put a fall pad beside her bed too late after she lost the ability to walk). We kept asking them to get her into physical therapy but ended up prescribing a wheelchair but it took 8+ months. In assisted living, they had a choice of maybe 15+ entrees for breakfast and lunch, and 3 main entrees (and a list of “anytime entrees “) for dinner — but mental care ward actually never asked about her choice of meals, but nearly all the time give the mental care tenants the leftovers that the assisted care didn’t request — thus mom didn’t eat because she didn’t want it, although she usually ate everything on her plate. I gave 3 stars instead of 1 star because there was no elder abuse that I could prove. I have video of staff stealing OTC health care products from my mom, and “lost” her diamond wedding ring. The only reason for average+ ratings is from families that visit many times a week, while the families that visit only every week (thus tenants) get ignored because of the family not to eyewitness the situation.

I moved my mother down here in June and the experience has been awesome. In my profession I have been exposed to many post acute care facilities and this one ranks the best. Everyone is professional and courteous from the cleaning staff to the Executive Administrator. The facility is clean every time I am in there. Safety is paramount. Any time I have had a question regarding anything it has been quickly and efficiently taken care of. We have been beyond pleased and I would recommend this facility to anyone and everyone.

I have lived in Independent Living in Discovery Village 2 for over eight years and have been very happy here! The residents on the first floor are more like a family than “just neighbors.” One of the reasons I chose this option is because of the availability of assisted living on the second floor, more specialized care on the third floor and skilled nursing/rehabilitation on the fourth floor in case I should need any of those services in the future. The staff is very caring, attentive and personable as well. I’ve never been sorry I chose to live here!

My mom has lived in the memory care home at Discovery Village at Southlake for 8 months, and I could not be happier and more impressed with the care provided. My father resides in the same building but on the assisted-living side. When I tell you, this is the most phenomenal place you could ever place your parents, I mean it. These people have become my extended family, and are so flexible with requests. Lulu provided excellent insight when admitting my mother. And has been nothing shy of amazing for the last eight months. He does everything to accommodate my father‘s request to see my mother for breakfast lunch and dinner. The memory care unit has my mom ready for my dad to pick up every day for all of her meals. And even when she could no longer come out for most meals, they encouraged him to come visit her every single meal in the memory care unit . Miki, Alphie, Rose, Ruth and so many more provide daily care for my parents as well as me…the kiddo. Tamika and Dinesh help her get ready for all of the happy hour activities with my dad. They are checking on her constantly. Anytime I make adjustments to her medications, they call. They let me know how she is doing with her sleeping and her overall health. I visit daily, so I know how this operation truly works. These people are nothing shy of amazing when caring for your parents. I have built a bond with all and they share in the journey loving my parents like their own. They are so caring, loving and very special people. They hold my mom, they hug her regularly, they assist her in eating and make sure she has direction with every day activities. They even helped me plan a birthday party for my mom this past Friday and it was a huge hit by allI!!
