Our family is devastated to learn that Gigi Salvia no longer works at DV. My mom has lived at Discovery Village, the Forum, for just over a year. We moved her here after our father passed, last year. Gigi was THE ONLY CONSTANT in the staff through this past year. There have been so many director/administrative/nursing/rehabilitation staff changes at DV this year, no one seems to know who to talk to when issues arise. Hence nothing gets resolved. To be frank, Gigi was DV's GREATEST asset and will truly be missed by everyone she touched. Gigi is dedicated, sensitive to the needs of her residents, and truly compassionate. Gigi took the time to engage with and get to know her residents and their families. Though we're not sure why she left, we know she will be a wonderful addition to any organization involving elder care.

Update!!!!!!!!! From 4 stars to 1star This is an update to my original positive review. Unfortunately, the experience changed drastically after the first 20 days, and I feel it is important to share the full picture especially for families making difficult care decisions. My mom stayed at Discovery Village at the Forum for a little over a month, and the decline in service was dramatic. In my opinion, the biggest problem is not the direct care staff it is the leadership. The caregivers, med techs, and daily staff are doing the best they can, but many of them privately expressed how unhappy, unsupported, and overwhelmed they felt. After being in the building every day checking on my mother, I saw the strain for myself. Where Things Went Wrong At the beginning, everything felt warm and welcoming. But once the “honeymoon phase” ended around day 20 the quality of communication, responsiveness, professionalism, and follow-through from leadership began to drop. Issues that should have been resolved quickly were ignored. Concerns I raised were not taken seriously. The leadership team seemed disengaged and more focused on justification than solutions. Meanwhile, my mother’s care felt increasingly inconsistent. Staff were stretched thin, and the leadership did not appear to be providing them the support, direction, or resources they needed to maintain quality care. What started as peace of mind quickly turned into daily stress and frustration. Moving My Mother to Springwood Court After realizing things were only getting worse, I made the decision to move my mom to Springwood Court, and it has been a blessing. Springwood Court is everything Discovery Village was not: Family-oriented Personable Warm and consistent from leadership down to the MedTech's Welcoming without pretense Responsive and genuinely caring The difference was immediate. Leadership actually knows what is happening in their building. The staff appear happy, supported, and able to provide care without being burned out or neglected themselves. My mom feels comfortable, and her overall mood and well-being improved almost immediately. I could not have made a better decision. Final Thoughts I moved my mom out of Discovery Village on 25 September, and looking back, it was absolutely the right call. Families deserve transparency, and while Discovery Village has some wonderful frontline caregivers, the leadership issues overshadow their hard work. The first 20 days were great, but the decline afterward was too significant to ignore. If you are considering this facility, pay very close attention to consistency, communication, and how leadership responds to concerns, not just the initial tour and welcome.

About a year ago, I needed to relocate my uncle to be closer to family, and Gigi at Discovery Village at The Forum made the entire transition smooth and stress-free. She was always available to answer questions and took the time to go over every detail of the contract with my sister and me. We never felt rushed or pressured at any point. Even a year later, Gigi continues to be a great resource—always helpful, responsive, and genuinely caring. She’s truly an asset to Discovery Village, and I’m so grateful for all her support!

My wife has been a resident of the assisted living facility at the Forum for over a year now. Her experience has been enormously enhanced by Gigi's intervention and support. Gigi has a heart of gold and has helped my wife both via strong emotional support and also very practical hands-on help with work orders and so forth. Gigi puts in loads of extra hours in helping and supporting the residents. She is there for everybody, all of the time. She is dedicated to her job and extremely organized. Her door is never closed. Discovery Village could not ask for a better representative. The introduction from Gigi was a key element in our decision to pick Discovery Village in the first place as it has been for many others. Her care and compassion come over very clearly during the initial introduction to DV discussions over the phone and in person. 0

When looking for assisted living for a family member, Discovery Village at the Forum was near by to ensure we can visit our loved one. Discovery Village at the forum is clean, well maintained and the staff are extremely friendly. The absolute difference maker for this place, and what ultimately tipped the scales in favor for our loved one was Gigi. There are multitudes of options for assisted living in and around town. None of them have the heart for residents like Gigi. Gigi is relentless in her fervent passion for the residents, and their family members. To be exceedingly clear on this subject, my family member would not be at Discovery Village at the Forum without Gigi. She is a shining example of customer-oriented service and, in my opinion, should be elevated as stellar representative of the Discovery Village brand. There are many places that check similar boxes, but most of them do not have someone with a heart of gold like Gigi. If you are in the market for a facility, please do yourself and your loved one a favor: make an appointment with Gigi and take a tour of Discovery Village at the Forum with Gigi. You'll absolutely be glad you did. We are! Thank you Gigi and the Discovery Village brand for employing such a superstar!
