I've been going to MCIR for ABI (Aquired Brain Injury) therapy services for several months now. As an ABI center, they operate in such a way as to make all participants as comfortable and well looked after as possible. They offer a full array of therapies: PT, OT, Speech, and councilors, as well as Rec Therapy, aka fun activities to help patients learn new skills, or hone older skills that might have suffered with the brain injury they sustained. As I mentioned in my review of Brewer Rehabilitation Center, all the people who work there are well trained in the care and keeping of the brain injured (we can be a very spicy bunch, and the staff is always on their toes). I am much more comfortable with this group than I have been since leaving Brewer Rehab. The ABI programs in this state are top notch--such a wonderful thing to have in Maine, and usually something you wouldn't expect to find outside of a huge urban metropolitan area.
