Not recommended! You're initially given info that's great and you think your loved one will be taken care of with no worries. 1) there was NOT nightly 2 hour checks 2) there is no shower schedule, you have to keep after staff to get showers done 3) the 2 times I had the facility do my mother's laundry, things were misplaced and the 2nd time her clothing completely disappeared! 4) a couple of staff members were really good at care giving but that was few and far between. Turnover rate is high. I definitely did not experience a high staff to resident ratio. 5) My mother had money stolen (never leave your loved one with cash) also a curling iron and Christmas decorations.. Yes you heard me Christmas decorations stolen. 6) My mother had reoccurring uti's, on several occasions, I myself, had to take her urine sample to the clinic, for whatever reason, it was not picked up in a timely manner. I get this is a very difficult decision to have your loved one placed in assisted living, it's not easy on anyone. It took me a year to write this review, sadly my mother passed away at highpoint in December 2024. I didn't feel right not saying anything. My hope is that another family doesn't experience this painful, stressful situation.

Has an up North vibe to this place always cozy and warm feeling when you walk in. Building is kept clean all the time staff is friendly. Manager, Erin—she is absolutely wonderful!

No a friendly place. Would not send your loved one her3e. We visited a dirty un kept facility with staff who did not know much about anything. Needed to get my mother to another facility that deals more with dementia. They told us that she would fit in great. All set to have her moved from the rehab facility and they said they could not take her because she call the police. They do not want that for their facility because it would bring too much attention in a negative way. I believed that they specialize in dementia conditions that deal with this. Apparentely they have had too many complaints against them already and do not need more attention. It was a matter of hours that we were approved and started to make the move. A few hours later we were lost with no facility and no phone calls letting us know. The original person we were working with was fired and the supervisor was the one who told us they would take her. He then called the rehab place and told him no. He relayed the message to us and we were back to square one. Many only take family cares and medicade with 18 months cash payment. Be ready for a struggle.

We have a family member living at this facility. This is a very clean facility. It is well run and they have lots of activities for the residents. They sometimes have groups come in to sing or dance for them. Our family member really loves the meals they serve and he is always clean when we come to visit and his room and bathroom are always clean also. We are very pleased with their Director, Michelle, who is an experienced administrator in this type of setting. The staff that works with our loved is very personable and helpful.

My Mother has been at Ellen's Home South for almost half a year. It's very homey and doesn't feel institutional at all! I love that it's not too big and has lovely sitting areas and fireplaces, and even an outdoor area. She is receiving three delicious meals a day and is eating very well. She really enjoys the ladies at her table. Her room is bright and clean. They have fun activities, for example, today they had an exercise class and frisbee golf and the other day they had a dice game. But the best part about Ellen's home is their staff! They are caring and attentive. I was speaking with one of the staff and she told me how she really considers this her ministry, and it shows! The managers, Maressa and Erin, are very helpful and responsive. And as a bonus, they were much more reasonably priced than any of the other places that we considered. We are so glad that we chose Ellen's Home South!
