We really like it here. Help is easy to get and everyone is pleased to help. Surroundings are nice, especially many flower beds and they are well kept.

I have been inside Evergreen on numerous occasions as a vendor. The facility was always clean and organized. Interior is a little dated but has been well maintained. The kitchen was clean and hygienic. They offer some fun past times for the residents, like the flea market in the basement, the pool, some of the PT work they do was creative and stimulating for those engaged. I wouldn’t be opposed to having a relative here if the situation arose.

UPDATE: THANK YOU to the management at Evergreen for posting clear signage on several walls in the Behnke room. My original review: I have personally experienced the hearing loops installed in the Arlene Sitter Performing Arts Center and the Behnke rooms on numerous occasions during lectures, music performances and resident council meetings. These phased array loops work exceedingly well. I can sit anywhere in auditoriums and hear each and every word spoken (even whispered) into the microphones. The staff is very attentive and will use a second microphone for Q&A's and will ask audience members to wait to speak until a microphone is near their mouth. Listening devices are available for anyone who doesn't use a hearing aid or whose hearing aid doesn't include a telecoil. Signage in the Arlene Sitter auditorium is excellent. Signage is missing in the Behnke Center but is (I hear) forthcoming.

Attending Learning in Retirement programs and Evergreen dies a wonderful job of organizing and arranging these programs. Evergreen Retirement Community also has an exceptional reputation for its various living options from independent homes & and apartments to the need for more supportive care.

While visiting a good friend who's immobile ... The outside is beautiful, with gardens, geese, Fox River, you can tell it's well maintained. Walking in you have a bistro cafe, nice. Beautiful art work to look at, pool, fireplace, places to sit. It's very nice looking. My friend is in pain, and needs assistance everywhere. When she pushes the nurses button for help she had to wait too long!! Because the nurses are busy with others, especially when you need two nurses for one resident. They are short staffed. In a unit that requires a two person lift you obviously need more help. The consequence of one sitting in their own feces leads to numerous infections. It also adds undo stress & emotional issues for the resident. Being unable to move on your own is terrible, but having to depend on others for your basic needs is a nightmare. Then paying for the service & not receiving the care is heart breaking. When someone is in their beds most of the day, in pain, staring at the beige ceiling, then waiting for help to use the bathroom & it doesn't come. The first outcome of course is soiling yourself, the 2nd is, they try & do it themselves. I'm giving them a 3 because patient care is more important then a beautiful setting.
