Pros and Cons Pros: Majority of the staff are friendly. The food is great. The facility itself is clean and beautiful. Cons: speaking of Memory Care only, I had both of my parents in Memory Care there from June to November. There were videos in their rooms and bathrooms. I was able to see back 4 days videos. Before moving them in, I met with the director of nursing for Memory care and 2 other witnesses. I told her what kind if Care my parents needed which she did not write down. When I questioned why she wasn't writing it down, she pointed to her head and said she got it all up there. Red flag ignored because I'm too trusting. She later denied I ever told her any of it even after I typed out a Care plan 3 months after their care was being neglected. They were supposed to.get 2 showers a week. The nurses nor the aides knew when my parents were schedule to get a shower. I was given them showers at least 1x a week because they just wasn't getting a shower. One time, I didn't do anything but wait. After 10 days without showers and 5 days without.changing clothes, I started to get more vocal and going up the chain to the very lady who lied about me never telling her what my parents needs were. I was accused of calling every hour on the hour by the aides during the night when I'm sleeping. I was made to feel like I was a Karen for wanting my parents to have basic care. I'm not even talking about teeth brushed, hair brush, face shaved, privates cleaned which was also neglected. Just a bath 2x a week. I did asked for a refund of some sort because I paid over $11,000 for them to not get their basic care. I never got a true apology or any refund. I got "the grass is not greener on the other side" and "you will just complained over there" I should never have to complain about basic care.... They will not be checking on your family members often. I was told they did every 2 hours when I put them in then the director of the place told me they don't do that. Where they are now, they get checked on every 2 hours. Guess what, my parents have moved and the grass is not only greener on the other side but it is luxious. The people are going above and beyond taking care of my parents. I no longer have to worry or complain. Social worker told me that the Avalon has alot of complaints which is why they asked me a bunch of questions. Two people that were demeaning and narcissistic about this was the director of nursing and the executive director. Both are gaslighters. I have a feeling they never believed me even after I asked them to get proof. 4 months dealing with this facility was way too long and it was a nightmare.

My sister and I visited when looking for a place for our mom and met with Chastity. She was friendly, honest and helpful beyond measure. Avalon is beautiful but during the initial conversation, it was clear this was not a fit for us and she did not waste our time trying to sell a spot. Instead, she and her colleague gave us guidance and much needed advice in our journey. Wish it would have been the place with such great staff!

The Avalon of New Albany is truly a gem in senior care. The staff is incredibly compassionate, attentive, and professional. The facility is always clean, warm, and welcoming, and the residents seem genuinely happy and well-cared for. They treat your loved ones like family, and that peace of mind is priceless. Highly recommend to anyone looking for quality assisted living.
