I am completely baffled at the review I just read below regarding the residents being overmedicated. My mother has been a resident at Montville for almost two years and my experience is just the opposite! Daniella and her team have been a Godsend to my mother and our family. From the moment you walk in, their is music playing, the residents are calm and happy and you can usually smell a meal being prepared in the kitchen. Because there are only 15 or 16 residents total, I have gotten to know other families and they have become a part of my extended family. Some residents are more independent than others and you will often see them walking around and chatting with another resident or doing an activity with a volunteer. Of course some do need more care and are always in the living room looking well groomed and content and will often be doing an activity at the long table. We chose Fox Trail because they DON'T overmedicate and believe in taking a more holistic approach. Dani is now overseeing another community and although change can be difficult, the new community director is awesome! Nicole is a kind hearted, energetic, experienced young woman that has gone above and beyond to get to know every resident along with their family members. It is clear that she takes pride in her home and you can feel that as soon as you walk through the door! If they followed the practice of overmedicating the residents, I would have moved mom a long time ago. I'm so grateful to have found such a special community for my mother to spend the remainder of her life in. Having peace of mind is the best gift of all! Happy New Year! Updated: It is understandable how deeply people care about well-being of their loved ones and concerns about medications are especially sensitive. That said, the statement that residents are being over-medicated is a very broad claim and does not reflect the care provided at this community. General accusations like this can cause worry for families but they do not represent the dedication and professionalism of the caring staff who take their responsibilities very seriously and treat the residents with respect and dignity. Before making a blanket statement, you should consider speaking with the director if you have concerns about your loved one instead of trying to scare others with false accusations. It is inappropriate and irresponsible.

Do not recommend this place. They rely heavily on strong medications to keep elderly residents calm, including Xanax and similar drugs. These medications cause excessive drowsiness, loss of balance, and confusion, which significantly increases the risk of falls and serious injuries. Professional and reputable care centers do not use heavy sedatives as a routine method of managing elderly residents. If you truly care about your parents or relatives, I strongly advise against placing them here. UPDATE/ RESPONSE to comments I want to clarify that my review reflects a direct personal experience, just as other reviewers are sharing theirs. It’s important to recognize that not all residents present the same way. Some are calm and sedentary, while others remain physically active, mobile, and more challenging to manage, particularly when dementia is involved. In our experience, a benzodiazepine was prescribed by the facility’s physician. This is a factual statement. For an active resident, the side effects raised VERY serious safety issues. A positive experience for one family does not invalidate the concerns of another. A care facility should be capable of safely supporting ALL types of residents, not only those who are easier to manage or require minimal supervision. My intention is not to debate individual opinions, but to highlight that families should ask very specific questions about medication practices and safety measures, especially for residents who are not passive or sedentary.

Fox Trail has been such a blessing to my mother and our family. The care is second to none, all the residents are so very lovely, and the director, Daniela, really created a safe and loving space. Also, my mom says the food is DELICIOUS (it's freshly cooked each meal). We are so grateful for Fox Trail.

Fox Trail doesn’t just provide care-they build relationships. That personal touch by Daniela, the community director at Montville, makes all the difference!
