Had my wife in there who has Dementia and Alzheimer’s. One day went in there and she was on the floor and had been there for a long time. Don’t know how long maybe all night. Another time they said she fell off a couch and there was a cut on her forehead and the whole side her face was black and blue. How could this have happened? We moved her to a different place. Posted for a Client who wife was in there.

My mother was at Gem Village for about 4.5 months before she passed. Moving her there was the most difficult decision of my life, but turned out to be one of the best. The staff, in the building my mom was in, worked as a team and genuinely love their residents and cater to their needs. No place is perfect, but the staff at Gem Village go the extra mile and any issue I had was remedied immediately. I am a family member who was there almost daily, sometimes several times a day so I was able to see the staff and residents in many different situations and circumstances and I definitely recommend Gem Village. In our time there, my girls and I grew rather attached to many of the residents and care givers and we will continue to visit.

My mother was at Gem Village for several years before she passed away. Because I am an artist they always invited anyone who wanted to sit around a large table and I gave them an art lesson. I noticed the people were always out in the main room conversing and doing things. It seemed more of a home setting than the larger assisted living centers I visited. I was in one last week for a program I helped with and it was sad to see so many elderly men sitting in wheelchairs in the halls by themselves. The ladies were in there own rooms. I am glad my mother was in a place where they tried to bring interaction with others and do fun things

The care givers, and all the staff take great care of their residents (Gems as they call them). The Gems are loved and taken care of wonderfully. Denise, the activity director has something for them do see or participate in all the time. This has been the best place for Mom. So glad we were drawn to Gem Village. They love yours as their own!

Please beware of Gem and use this nursing home only as your very very last resort. And if this ends up being your option, please check on your loved one constantly and listen to what they can and (More importantly) what they can’t say. If you do have any option other than Gem, save yourself a lot of heartache and guilt and fear and put your family elsewhere.
