Avoid renting here. Management is unresponsive and is holding my security deposit. I moved out and provided management with my updated forwarding address. Despite this, they sent the deposit correspondence to the apartment we had already vacated instead of the address on file. As of now, my deposit has still not been returned and management has stopped responding to emails. This lack of accountability reflects how the building is generally managed. Elevators are frequently out of service — sometimes both at the same time. Office staff are often unavailable during business hours and rarely return calls or emails. There have been multiple mailroom break-ins over the years with minimal security improvements. Maintenance response times are poor and issues routinely drag on. If you value basic communication, reliability, and actually getting your money back when you move out, I would strongly recommend renting elsewhere.

Do not rent here. Building management is absolutely terrible, especially RW selby. Here are just a handful of their slumlord behavior: Replacing a 12 year old non cooling refrigerator with a 17 year old one from the staff break room as a “temp” that also didn’t work. Took them 2 months to get me a working one, which they got from an empty unit down the hall (which they could have done from the start). An empty concrete hulk where there should be a pool, promised since 2022. Claiming to be short staffed on maintenance is a joke coming from a large corporate landlord/management company. Multiple mailroom breakins every year, cheap padlock replaced with identical cheap padlock. No security. Unresponsive building staff. Often not in the office during business hours. Barely answer calls to the office. Construction on weekends in the center court (allegedly to build the pool). I don’t live in a courtyard unit, but renter beware. Often non working elevators (sometimes both out at the same time)

DO NOT APPLY HERE. I submitted an application and was charged a holding deposit without being told it was nonrefundable anywhere on the receipt or paperwork. Then, the leasing agent handling my application left town and stopped responding for several days, completely delaying the process. We saw hundreds of reviews on other site about this place having mold, bug infestations, and terrible management, so we decided to rescind our application since it had been 5 days of silence. When I finally got an update, they tried to keep the holding deposit even though they failed to process things in a timely or transparent way. Filing complaints with the Los Angeles Housing Department and California Department of Consumer Affairs. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This building treats its residents like an afterthought. The elevator has been broken for two months, forcing everyone to use stairwells that reek of urine. They’ve promised a pool for years and never delivered. On top of that, they think it’s fine to run loud construction at 8 a.m. on Saturdays while still asking for rent hikes. Completely unacceptable.

We have been trying to return our keys since we moved out early but there is no one ever in the office. We have called, emailed and visited in person. In addition to this, they charged us for a full month even though our lease ends the first week of August. We enjoyed living at the Norman but our current experience is making us rethink our previous rating.
