Golden Manor

DO NOT PLACE YOUR FAMILY MEMBER THERE!!! I called and visited Golden Manor to place my uncle wi5h dementia there upon release from a medical rehab facility. Obed was very helpful at the time and explained everything clearly. He even showed me software that was available for me to see my uncle, request visits, status updates, see health records, etc. Everything seemed to be great. The home was well taken care of. I decided to place my uncle there and paid $1000 to hold the room. Unfortunately my uncles health took a turn for the worse and he was admitted back into the hospital. He went back to the rehab. I then paid Golden Manor $5000 for security deposit and first months rent, preparing to have him transferred there on April 1st. He again took another turn for the worse. Obed was helpful during this time. Finally on April 21st, he was transferred under Hospice Care. He arrived at Golden Manor and the hospice nurse immediately contacted me stating they could not leave him there because he needed 24 hour care and the staff person there stated she was not able to provide it. I contacted Obed who stated he suggests my uncle remained there and he would immediately called someone who could assist at an additional cost. I agreed...hospice did not. My uncle was transitioning and the hospice care facility was the best place for him. He was at Golden Manor for 2 hours only. He passed the same week. After his passing I informed Obed (left messages) and when he finally answered after many calls, Obed answered the phone stating he was sick and would call me bacl (he did not). We had left personal belongings and rental equipment provided by Medicare. At that time I also inquired about the return of the security deposit although he did not reside there in April, again, no call back. I emailed and left messages via phone and text. The placement counselor who assisted me in finding this home attempted contact as well. When Obed finally contacted the counselor, he stated he sent a letter to the house. No letter was ever received and he did not have any address to mail a letter to since we had not gotten that far because if my uncles declining health. It has been 2 months and still no response from Golden Manor. I am now seeking legal counsel to assist in getting all of the money I gave Golden Manor back.
