Gull Creek Senior Living Community

My mom lived in the memory care unit (locked Dementia unit) for the past 5 1/2 years and the care was phenomenal. She was not able to walk and relied on a wheelchair and the staff had to assist with all ADLs such as bathing, dressing, eating, etc. They did such a good job that she never had any skin problems or bed sores. It’s a tough work environment but in spite of this the staff were always very caring and supportive and kept us informed whenever there was an issue or need for an ER visit. The unit included appropriate activities for memory impairment and it was always warm and welcoming with pretty seasonal decorations. It is apparent that the facility and staff really care about the residents. The memory care unit is considered Assisted Living which is far less expensive than nursing home level of care. Also, the unit is small enough that it feels more like home and less like an institution. In the end my mom became very frail from her Dementia and required hospice. She was kept on the unit with hospice care which meant that she did not have to move to another facility and could stay in the environment she knew well. Every aspect of her care over 5 1/2 years was well coordinated and could not have been better. As a family we will forever be grateful to Gull Creek and highly recommend them!

Our sister Wendy has lived at Gull Creek for the past nine months. We would like to commend the staff as they have made her transition to assisted living better than we could have imagined. Mom has been in Gull Creek for a little over a year.  Mom has made many friends with residents and staff alike.  The scheduled activities keep her busy, and we need to plan our visits around her favorite activities.  If our visits appear to start conflicting with Mom attending an activity, Mom will nudge us out the door by announcing that she will “walk us down”.  Mom enjoys the meals and is happy with the quality of the food that is prepared.  As far as my view of Gull Creek, it is a comfort to know that Mom is being assisted by a staff of caring people.  I have been very happy with the floor nursing staff that assures that Mom is taking her meds, drinking fluids and is generally taking care of herself.  If necessary, they will contact the PA on Mom’s behalf.  Eileen in particular has been excellent.  The housekeeping staff does a very good job.  Mom’s apartment is always clean, the garbage emptied regularly, and the common areas get the needed attention.  As I mentioned earlier, the activities team keeps the residents busy and will recruit residents to participate in order to keep them active and are given the opportunity to meet others.   Pam in the on-site beauty parlor is awesome with the residents.  The maintenance team does a great job of assuring the systems are working.  They have also assisted in changes in residents’ apartments as requested.   I am very happy with Gull Creek and appreciate the attention that the staff is giving to Mom and the other residents.

I moved my Mom from Rhode Island into Gull Creek just about a year ago so she could be closer to me. I was worried about her not knowing anybody but she quickly made friends and adjusted to her new life. Jamie and Leslie make sure there are plenty of activities to keep her busy. There is a wide variety so she can pick and chose the ones she likes. There is something for everybody!

I feel since moving my parents to Gull Creek, they are enjoying life so much more. Whenever they need extra care someone is right there. Jamie has helped them get involved more in the facility's activities. Megan has really helped with their transition. Whenever I call with a question, it is taken care of right away. I cannot say enough good things about our experience for the last 14 months.
