Both of my parents moved into the Lowman Home about 6 months ago- each in separate parts of the facility. My mom needed skilled nursing care. Our family was helped with this transition from the very beginning. Babbi Bowers was great at helping us choose the right room and type of care for our mother. She made us feel comfortable when we had questions. She got back to us with answers or put us in contact with the people we needed to speak to. She made us feel heard and reassured us when we needed help. Our mom received great care from the nurses and others while she was there. We felt welcomed by staff when we were there to visit our mom. She was well taken care of while she was there. Our Dad lives in one of the assisted living buildings. He is enjoying his days at Lowman. Lynn Avery continues to answer the medical questions when we have them. Peggy and other staff in his building take great care of him, making sure he has what he needs on a daily basis. The PTs, OTs, and SLPs have done a great job making sure my dad is getting the therapy he needs to stay mobile. There are plenty of daily activities for him to be involved in- BINGO, sing alongs, crafts, church services, etc. We enjoy visiting him at Lowman and are happy to see he is getting what he needs there.

Do not I repeat do not place your loved in this dog pound. They neglected my precious brother and now he is at Richland Memorial Hospital on hospice with extensive bed sores and his feeding tube has been pulled out he has lost weight and he has pneumonia. They have abused and neglected him and they are sorry care takers and will pay for my brothers neglect and treatment. And the executive director is a preachers wife, go figure,, and their church is in Chapin. What a sin and a disgrace. They will pay for their treatment of my brother

My husband was discharged with another patient’s medication. He also had a rash on groin and feet that was not reported to me. We went to his primary care physician right away and received treatment. I got a copy of his medical records and this condition was not noted by Lowman. Communication with staff was terrible. I filed grievance on 9/3/25 and have not received a response from the director (though their policy states they will respond within 5 days). Definitely will not recommend Lowman Homes,

I moved my 92 year old mother into Heritage at Lakeside- Lowman Home, Chapin SC yesterday. The director Lynn Avery and all staff have accommodated my mother’s special needs with love and care. Mom dreamed of a blue apartment and she got a sky blue apartment and loves it! The windows are huge and the food is great! Mom is adjusting, staff is getting to know her, and everyone is breaking their backs to make her comfortable.

Short-staffed and poorly managed. Won't return phone calls. Won't include family in care planning or inform of medication changes. With a Loved-one that has advanced dementia and can't advocate for themselves - leaves them in soiled briefs for hours. If Loved-one needs assistance eating - rarely gets it. Most of the time, the food is cold by the time it gets to them, and if they can't ask for it to be heated, it doesn't happen. Constant rotation in nursing staff makes it difficult for someone who needs consistent care. Horrible experience.
