Both of my parents have been at the View for multiple years. My mom went first following emergency spinal surgery and resided in the Health Care Center for several months while she rehabbed back to being able to walk again. My father, who has been battling Parkinson's for over 10 years, joined her in the assisted living side of the property a few months later, and when my mom finished rehab, she joined him. The staff here is truly wonderful. They go above and beyond to make my parents feel comfortable in whatever ways they can, and they are always kind and patient, even with my very stubborn father. I cannot express the feelings of relief felt by my brother and me knowing our parents are in such good hands. ***UPDATE*** Earlier this year, my father passed away following a sudden health problem no one could have prevented, and I am even more thrilled than before that my mom was living here when it happened. EVERYONE - staff and residents alike - was so incredibly supportive. My mom is surrounded by a wonderful community.

My uncle has been living at the View (formerly Hermitage) since 2019 in a pleasant one-bedroom apartment. He has been very happy with the community, level of care, food, facilities, and activities. This place may be smaller than average, so it feels more homey. It was an excellent choice for him. He’s made good friends, enjoyed the services provided, and had a good quality of life. He just celebrated his 100th birthday, and the View helped cater a party that made everyone feel good. The staff are professional and friendly.

I have visited well over 500 senior living communities as publisher of Positive Aging Sourcebook. The welcome that I received today when visiting The View Alexandria from Amete who was working at the front desk when I entered was one of the best! It is so important that the team members interacting with the public and the residents in a community are a welcoming to all. I hear too many stories from families who are shopping for senior living and complaints about their first interactions with a community. Amete at The View Alexandria should be teaching a master class on this topic! Kudos!

Everyone here is so warm and caring I feel right at home at the Hermitage. Apartments are a good size & everything is nicely renovated. Not too much staff turnover. Highly recommend.

Yesterday was Christmas and my Fiancee picked up her Father from the Hermitage where he is a resident. He suffers from Dementia and she has constantly spoken to their Social Worker about his hygene. When she arrived back home with him, she was in a state of tears and I went through the Roof! If I did not know him, I would have thought that he was in a "Shelter". He was filthy, smelly, unshaved and his clothes were not only dirty but "soiled". Further, he had a terrible cough. I took photos of him not only for the sake of showing them to the Social Worker but also for the sake of possibly registering a complaint with the Commonwealth of VA.
